Prevention Plan

The City of Boston and five other cities were selected by the Obama Administration to participate in the National Forum on Youth Violence Prevention. They were selected to share their knowledge and experience, and develop comprehensive community-based plans to prevent youth and gang violence. Building on the strong foundation of partnerships and best practices that already exist, the City of Boston and partners developed a plan to prevent and reduce violence in our neighborhoods that is multi-disciplinary; includes evidence based prevention, intervention, enforcement and reentry strategies, enhances information sharing and coordination among partners; and enhances civic engagement on multiple levels focused on a shared mission of youth violence prevention and reduction. In April 2011, Boston and the five participating cities presented their comprehensive plans at a Youth Violence Summit in Washington, D.C.
