‘Mom’ Helps Boston Police Chase and Arrest Armed Robbery Suspect in Roxbury

At about 4:48pm on Tuesday March 5, 2013 officers from District B-2 responded to the
area of Malcolm X Blvd and King Street for an armed robbery in progress.

Upon arrival officers noticed a female exit her vehicle and run towards a male juvenile walking on Malcolm X Blvd. The female alerted officers and began to point and yell “That is him right there. He just stole my daughter’s headphones.” Upon hearing the female, the juvenile male suspect turned in the opposite direction and began to run toward Tremont Street with officers in foot pursuit. After a short foot chase officers apprehended the juvenile and placed him into custody. During a search of the suspect, officers recovered a metal black and silver ‘BB Gun’ tucked inside of the suspect’s waistband.

The same female victim further informed officers that the suspect robbed her daughter in the hallway of 45 Centre Street. Officers responded to the location and spoke with a second female juvenile victim who informed officers she was robbed by three males, one of whom was armed with what she believed was a firearm. She reported the three males followed her into the hallway of 45 Centre Street and the juvenile suspect (in custody) asked her how much her ‘Dr. Dre Beats Headphones’ cost her. The victim told officers she was scared and did not respond. She further reported to officers the suspect told her to give him her headphones and cell phone. The victim told officers she responded “no” and the suspect unzipped his jacket and pulled out a black and silver firearm from his waistband. The suspect took both the victim’s headphones and phone. The victim was unable to identify the two additional suspects.

A male suspect, 15, of Roxbury was arrested and charged with Delinquent to wit: Armed Robbery and Delinquent to wit: Assault by means of a Dangerous Weapon. He is expected to appear in Boston Juvenile Court today.
