Boston Police Investigate Motor Vehicle Accident with Serious Injuries in the Area of 885 Boylston Street

At about 2:04 AM on Wednesday, March 6, 2013, officers from District D-4 (South End) responded to a radio call for a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle in the area of 885 Boylston Street (Whiskey’s Bar).

On arrival, officers spoke with witnesses who reportedly observed the victim in a verbal argument with an unknown white male suspect. The suspect was described as about 5’10″, 30-32 years old, wearing a dark hooded jacket with fur on the hood. Witnesses stated the suspect was in the middle of Boylston Street and yelled, “Expletive Boston, and Expletive your businesses!” turned around and punched the victim who fell in the street. Witnesses reported a cab traveling inbound on Boylston Street ran over the victim while he was unconscious in the road and dragged him under the vehicle. The suspect then fled the scene inbound on Boylston Street then took a left on Fairfield Street. Officers canvassed the area to no avail.

The operator of the taxi cab stayed at the scene and stated he was traveling inbound on Boylston Street in the middle lane and did not see the victim in the road. The operator stated he didn’t know the victim was under the car until bystanders motioned for him to stop.

The victim was transported for injuries to the face and lower body to Massachusetts General Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

The Boston Police Department is actively investigating facts and circumstances surrounding this incident. Anyone with information is asked to call D-4 (South End) detectives at 617-343-5619.
