Great Police Work: Call for a Person with a Gun Leads to the Seizure of Three Firearms, Illegal Drugs and the Arrest of 6 Suspects on Drug Related Charges

At about 12:25am, on Saturday, March 2, 2013, officers from District B-2 (Roxbury) responded to radio call for a person with a gun in the area of 580 Blue Hill Avenue in Roxbury. Once on scene, officers learned that there was large altercation inside the location involving several individuals who may have been armed. Prior to entering the location, officers surrounded all entrances and exits of the building. Upon entering the location, officers could hear a lot of commotion and several people running around inside the apartment on the 2nd floor. According to the officers, it sounded as if the individuals in the apartment were attempting to flee the location by running to the rear of the building. Officers stationed in the rear of the residence observed three individuals exit 580 Blue Hill Ave but, upon seeing the officers, the suspects quickly ran into 576 Blue Hill Ave. Officers pursued the suspects as they ran up to the roof of the location. However, once on the roof, the suspects jumped the alley to the roof of the building located next door at 580 Blue Hill Ave. Officers followed the suspects, jumping from one roof to the other, and were able to subdue the three suspects at gunpoint on the roof of 580 Blue Hill Ave.

Officers apprehended the three additional suspects inside the location. In addition to the arrests, a search of the location enabled officers to seize three firearms and a large amount of illegal narcotics including: approximately 12 pounds of marijuana, over 200 grams of cocaine, 190 grams of heroin and a tactical bullet proof vest.

Officers arrested Gilbert Rodriguez-Diaz, 21, of Boston, Josue Santana, 31, of Boston, Jose Justiniano, 38, of Boston, Leidys Lugo-Meija, 24, of Boston, Maykor Baez, 20, of Boston and Jonathan Garcia, 22, of Boston and charged them with Trafficking Class A Drugs (Heroin).

Additional charges could be pending.
