‘Come On’ You’re Under Arrest for Attempted Bank Robbery in Roxbury

At about 11:36am on Saturday, February 23, 2013 officers from District B-2 (Roxbury) responded to a call for a robbery in progress at 2343 Washington Street (Citizens Bank).

Upon arrival officers spoke with a bank manager who stated that a male suspect passed a teller a deposit slip that read, “NO DYE PACK.” At time she received the note from the suspect, the bank manager was counting out money. The bank manager told officers she realized that the suspect was attempting to rob the bank and stated to him, “Hold on a minute. I just have to give this (the money) to another teller.” As the manager was walking away, the male suspect replied “I’ll take that, Ma’am! Ma’am, come on! come on!” The manager further stated, as she activated the alarm, she observed the suspect turnand walk out of the bank with no currency. Witnesses described the suspect as a black male, dark skinned, approximately 5’8”, 160 lbs, slim build, wearing a black stocking hat with three white stripes, a black nylon jacket (with small gray emblem/writing on chest) and black pants.

The description was broadcast over all channels of the police radio.

A few hours later at about 2:14pm, an officer from District B-2 (Roxbury), assigned to traffic enforcement, observed a male walking in the area of Lenox Street & Shawmut Avenue who fit the description of the individual who attempted to rob the bank. The suspect was stopped and positively identified.

Marco Willis, 40, of Boston was arrested and charged with Attempted Robbery (Unarmed Bank).
