Boston Firefighter Under Investigation for Making Threats

At about 12:50pm on Tuesday, February 19, 2013 detectives responded to 115 Southampton Street (Boston Fire Department Headquarters).

Upon arrival Boston Detectives met with a Boston Fire Commander and a Union Local 718 Representative, who stated they contacted a Boston Firefighter by phone to check on his well-being. At that time, the firefighter allegedly made statements to the commander expressing displeasure with the Boston Fire Department physician and appeared to be concerned about not having had the opportunity to be seen by his personal physician prior to returning to work.

The firefighter made the following statements to the BFD Commander, “smashing a fire truck into a wall. I am Army trained and have weapons and ammunitions in a storage locker. Dorner will be child’s play”.” Chris Donner is the former LAPD officer who killed several people, barricaded himself in a building forcing a standoff with police before committing suicide. The firefighter further stated he was “upset with City Hall, Fire Department Headquarters, and the Firefighters Union Hall.”

As a result of the ongoing investigation, the firefighter has been summoned to West Roxbury District Court for a clerk’s hearing on March 4, 2013.

The Boston Police Department is continuing to actively investigate the facts and circumstances surrounding this incident. Anyone with information is asked to call detectives E-18 at (617) 343-5607.
