Police Arrest One in Connection to Non-Fatal Stabbing in area of 161 Cottage Street in East Boston

At about 7:10am, on Sunday, January 13, 2013, officers from District A-7 (East Boston) responded to a call for a report of a man yelling in the area of 161 Cottage Street in East Boston. On arrival, officers located a male in his twenties suffering from what appeared to be a stab wound. The victim, suffering from life threatening injuries, was transported to Mass General Hospital. According to the victim, he was visiting a friend, who lives at 161 Cottage Street, when an altercation between the victim and his friend’s roommates broke out. During the altercation, the victim says one of the roommates stole his watch and stabbed him.

Officers were able to locate the suspect who was still in the area. A search of the suspect enabled officers to recover the victim’s watch. A search of the suspect’s room enabled officers to see and take possession of a knife possibly used to injure the victim.

Officers arrested Yertan Tatibayev, 23, of Boston and charged him with Assault & Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon (knife) and Armed Robbery.
