Boston Police Arrest Suspect for Armed Robbery

At about 12:12am on Friday, December 7, 2012, Officers from District A-1 (Downtown) responded to a radio call for an armed robbery in the area of Revere Street.

The victim told officers, he was walking in the area of Joy Street and he heard footsteps behind him.  As the victim turned to acknowledge the person, he was grabbed from behind and a struggle ensued. During the struggle, the male suspect began swinging an unknown object with a blue light on the end of it, which the victim believed was a taser. The victim was able to break free and the suspect ran in the opposite direction. The victim described the suspect as a black male, 5’9, wearing a dark hoodie, mask, dark pants and dark shoes or sneakers.

Officers in the area observed an individual fitting the description and after a brief foot chase apprehended the male suspect identified as Yohan Almonte, 24, of Boston. He is charged him with Armed Robbery.
