About 4:07PM on Sunday November 11, 2012 Officers from District B-3(Mattapan) responded to a radio call for shots fired at 28 Dyer Street, Dorchester.

Officers made contact with a female victim who reported hearing what she believed to be a gunshot. The victim, visibly shaken and upset, showed officers what appeared to be a bullet hole inside a closet in the front bedroom. The female victim reported hearing a commotion upstairs. Someone began banging violently on her front door and a male voice yelled “Let me in, somethings in there of mine I gotta get” and “Let me in! Let me in! Open the (expletive) door”. The victim refused to let him in and observed through the peephole a tall black male. She reported being afraid while the male was at her door and in fear for her life.

Officers attempted to make contact with the residents in the upstairs apartment. Officers maintained an exterior perimeter and continued to knock on the front and rear doors of the second floor apartment, to no avail.

Officers breached the front door of the apartment as they continued to announce their presence. Two males, later identified as Juanquis Hicks, 21, of Hyde Park, and Kevin Bryant, 21, also of Hyde Park were encountered in the rear bedroom. A female, later identified as Ethel Walter, 26, of Dorchester, was encountered in the third floor rear stairwell. She was holding her 2 year old son. The minor child was transported by Boston EMS to Boston Medical Center for a well-being check. Officers observed two bags next to Ms. Walter, on the landing. They could smell the strong odor of what they believed to be marijuana emanating from the bags. The bags were seized as part of an ongoing investigation as well as an unknown amount of Class B substance, believed to be crack cocaine.

Officers located three firearms during a search and one firearm was located in a closet which was directly overhead where the ballistic damage was found in the first floor apartment.
