COMMUNITY ALERT and REMINDER: Simulated Public Safety Exercise – Urban Shield is Active from 8am (Saturday) through 8am (Sunday)

The Urban Shield – the simulated public safety exercise – is active and ongoing for the next 24 hours starting at 8:00am this Saturday through Sunday at 8:00am.

Residents in the area of the exercises may hear simulated gunfire and observe officers responding to simulated emergencies. Simulated scenarios will be run multiple times over the course of the 24 hour period.  Organizers urge and remind residents not to be alarmed. There is no danger to anyone in the area and exercises will be conducted in cordoned-off areas away from the public.

The following locations are hosting exercises:

• USS Salem (Quincy)
• The former District B-2 Police Station in Roxbury
• The former Circle Cinemas (Brookline)
• Bowdoin MBTA Station (Boston)
• Boston Harbor Anchorage #1 (Boston)
• UMass Boston Campus (Boston)
• Eight area hospitals throughout Boston
