Suspect Wanted for Attempted Murder Found Hiding Out in a Pennsylvania Basement by the Boston Police Fugitive Apprehension Unit
After a long and lengthy search and investigation, on Monday, August 13, 2012, members of the Boston Police Fugitive Apprehension Unit, in conjunction with US Marshals, were able to locate and apprehend an individual wanted in connection to a cold, callous crime committed in May of 2012. On that day, Sunday, May 6, 2012, officers from District B-2 (Roxbury) responded to a call for a young woman who had been stabbed repeatedly in the area of 124 Marcella Street in Roxbury. On arrival, officers observed and encountered a bloody crime scene. The female victim, who had been stabbed multiple times, was transported to Brigham & Women’s Hospital where she received extensive treatment for life threatening injuries. According to the victim, her ex-boyfriend, known to her as Luis Arias, 35, of Boston, stabbed her repeatedly with a broken bottle. Upon learning the suspect’s identity, detectives sought and secured an arrest warrant in the name of the suspect charging him with Attempted Murder, Mayhem and Assault & Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon.
After running down several leads that lead investigators out of state, members of the Boston Police Fugitive Apprehension Unit, working in partnership with US Marshals and Pennsylvania law enforcement officials, were able to track down the suspect hiding in the basement of a residence in Allentown, Pennsylvania. After fleeing the Boston area, the suspect, with the help of several fake ID’s, attempted to disguise his true identity in an effort to blend into a new community.
Upon his return to Boston, the suspect, Luis Arias, 35, of Boston will be arraigned on the following charges: Attempted Murder, Mayhem and Assault & Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon.
Special thanks to all of the officers and detectives from District B-2 (Roxbury), members of the Boston Police Fugitive Apprehension Unit and the US Marshals Service who worked tirelessly and together in their unified efforts to bring this violent suspect to justice.
