UPDATE: Death Investigation in the area of Shawmut Ave & Herald Street – Victims Identified

At about 2:00am, on Sunday, July 15, 2012, officers from District D-4 (South End) responded to a call for a person or persons shot at the intersection of Shawmut Avenue and Herald Street. On arrival, officers located three individuals suffering from what appeared to be gunshot wounds. Two of the victims were pronounced deceased on scene. A third victim, suffering from non-life threatening gunshot wounds, was transported to Tufts Medical Center. The victims have since been identified as Daniel Jorge Correia de Abreu, 29, of Dorchester and Safiro Teixeira Furtado, 28, of Dorchester.

Boston Police are looking for information relative to a grey SUV style motor vehicle with Rhode Island registration plates seen leaving the scene.

The Boston Police Homicide Unit is actively investigating the facts and circumstances surrounding this incident. Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Homicide Unit at (617) 343-4470.
