Boston Police Arrest Brothers for Armed Robbery in Hyde Park- Great Work by E-18, Youth Violence Strike Force and K-9 Officers

At about 1:20am, Tuesday May 29, 2012, officers assigned to District E-18 (Hyde Park) responded to 35 Harvard Avenue for an armed robbery.

On arrival, officer spoke with the victim who stated he was standing on the stairs of the Hyde Park Library using the Wi-Fi connectivity for his laptop from the library. The victim stated he observed the two suspects walk up to him and suspect #1 brandished a firearm. The victim stated suspect #1 stated, “Give me all your money.”  The victim stated he walked towards suspect #1 and grabbed a nearby trash barrel striking the suspect’s hand and knocking firearm to the ground.

Victim stated to officers suspect #1 grabbed the firearm and fled towards Fairmount Street towards River Street.   The victim stated suspect #2 fled as well with the laptop in hand.

After the incident, the victim called 911 and observed the suspects walking back towards victim and searching the area and then fleeing again.

Officers broadcasted a description of the suspects and their direction of flight.  Officers in the area of Central Avenue observed the suspects.  The suspects observed the officers and   fled the area.  Officers engaged in a foot pursuit and observed the suspect drop a silver object and victim’s lap top.  Officers were able to apprehend suspect #1 after a brief foot chase.  K-9 officers assisting on scene were able to locate the firearm.

Officers lost sight of suspect #2 during the foot chase. With the assistance of K-9 officers, suspect #2 was apprehended on Arlington Street.  Suspect #2 was on shouting out, “My brother has nothing to do with this. My boy gave me that computer.”

The victim positively identified the suspects to officers.

The victim was treated on scene by emergency medical technicians for his minor injuries to his elbow and knee.

The male suspect #1, Jarvis Israel, 18, of Hyde Park, was arrested for Intent to Rob While Armed, Armed Robbery, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition and Assault by Means of a Dangerous Weapon.

The male suspect #2, Jonathan Israel, 19, was arrested for Assault by Means of a Dangerous Weapon, Intent to Rob While Armed, Armed Robbery, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition.
