Police Arrest One for Displaying a Firearm During a Traffic Dispute
At about 2:46pm, on Wednesday, August 3, 2011, officers from Area D-4 (South End) responded to a call for a person with a gun in the area of 1365 Boylston Street. While en route to the call, officers were advised that an individual, operating a blue van, pulled a gun on the victim, also driving in a motor vehicle, when the two cars were stopped at a red light in the area of Boylston and Ipswich Streets. According to the victim, he approached the suspect’s car after the suspect cut him off. As he approached the suspect’s car, the victim says the suspect produced a firearm and pointed it at him. After the exchange, the victim says the suspect’s car was seen pulling into the Harvard Vanguard Parking lot located on Fullerton Street. On arrival, officers located the car. Officers ordered the operator to exit the car. A search of the suspect enabled officers to see and seize a firearm.
Officers arrested Brian Rodrigues, 23, of Wakefield and charged him with Assault by Means of a Dangerous Weapon (gun).
