Hoping to Hug a Red Sox Player Lands One in Custody after Landing in the Sox Bullpen

At about 9:38pm, on Friday, July 22, 2011, the detail officer assigned to protect the Red Sox bullpen during the game between the Red Sox and Seattle Mariners observed a female jump from the stands and into the Red Sox bullpen which is, of course, a restricted area. Moreover, anyone entering the restricted area is subject to arrest. When asked what she was doing, the female suspect stated that she merely wanted to ask one of the Red Sox players for a hug and had no intentions of causing or creating any harm. The suspect was taken into custody without incident.

Officers arrested Jacquline Perry, 27, of Vermont and charged her with Disturbing a Public Assembly.
