UPDATE TO OFFICER-INVOLVED SHOOTING AT 22 WENTWORTH TERRACE: Suspect Succumbs to Injuries Sustained During Shooting Incident

The suspect connected to the officer-involved shooting which took place on June 14, 2011 at 22 Wentworth Terrace succumbed to injuries he sustained during the incident. The suspect identified as 25 year old Tyrone Cummings of Boston was pronounced deceased yesterday at Boston Medical Center.

On June 14, 2011 at 6:42 am, Boston Police officers from District B-3 responded to a call for a domestic violence incident at 22 Wentworth Terrace. The female caller reported to 911 that her boyfriend had assaulted her and was threatening to kill her.

When officers arrived on scene, Cummings fired his weapon striking one officer. Officers returned fire striking Cummings. A female victim also sustained a non-life threatening gunshot wound during the incident. When Cummings was rushed to Boston Medical Center, medical personnel recovered a second firearm and a bag of ammunition from Cummings’person after his admission to the hospital

The investigation is currently ongoing by the Boston Police Homicide Unit, the Boston Police Firearm Discharge Investigation Team and the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office.
