Three Strikes Your Out! Youth Arrested for Possessing an Unlawful Knife
On Sunday, August 3, 2009, at approximately 2:05am, officers assigned to Area C-11 (Dorchester), responded to the area of 180 Tenean Street for a call of a large group gathering in a private parking lot.
Upon arrival, Officers immediately recognized the group of youths for they had two previous encounters with them during the course of the night. On the first interaction, the group had been involved in a large fight with another group.
One of the parties was observed to be in possession of a knife that was protruding from his front pants pocket. Officers attempted to remove it from him but he continued to pull away and push the officers’ hands away. The suspect was asked if it was a knife and he stated, “Yeah..it’s a poker.”
Officers were able to take control of the suspect and remove the knife from his pocket. He was then placed into custody.
Officers arrested a Black Male Juvenile (16), from Boston on the charges of Unlawful Possession of a Dangerous Weapon (knife).
Female Arrested for Punching and Kicking Officers
On Monday, August 3, 2009, at approximately 1:02am, officers assigned to Area D-4 (Backbay / South end), were traveling on Washington Street when they observed a grey Honda fail to yield to on-coming traffic.
Officers followed the vehicle awaiting a safe location to conduct a traffic stop. The vehicle double parked on West Concord Street and the female operator exited the vehicle. Officers pulled behind the suspect vehicle and ordered the female back into the car. She proceeded to lock the doors and stated, “I ain’t getting back in.” She then began to walk away. She was informed by officers that if she did not return she would be subject to arrest. The female returned and became belligerent to the officers and refused to supply them with her license. She was instructed to turn around and place her hands behind her back for she was under arrest. At this time, she quickly jumped back into the vehicle and attempted to flee. The officers were forced to physically remove her from the car. While doing so, the suspect continued to punch and kick the officers. After a brief struggle she was placed into custody.
She was then transported back to the station for booking. During the booking process, the suspect kicked the booking officer and threatened to kill the officers’ family.
Officers arrested Jacqueline Cuevas, 28, of Washington Street, Boston on the charges of Assault & Battery on a Police Officer (multiple counts) and Threats to Commit a Crime.

BOSTON POLICE SEEK PUBLIC’S ASSISTANCE IN THEIR EFFORTS TO IDENTIFY SUSPECTS WANTED IN CONNECTION WITH DOUBLE SHOOTING ON HANCOCK STREET IN DORCHESTER

At approximately 1:10am, on Sunday, August 2, 2009, officers from Area C-11 (Dorchester) responded to a radio call for a person shot in the area of 33 Hancock Street (Ka-Carlos Bar). On arrival, officers located a 47 year-old male, hereinafter referred to as victim #1, inside the location suffering from what appeared to be a gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced on the scene.
At about the same time, officers located a 2nd victim, a 20 year-old male, outside the location in the area of 8 Bird Street, suffering from what appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds. The 2nd victim was transported to the Boston Medical Center where he was pronounced.
According to witnesses, an altercation began inside the premise. Witnesses further stated that as the altercation moved its way outside, witnesses say they could hear shots being fired. One of those shots struck victim #1.
At approximately 2:15am, officers from Area C-11 (Dorchester) responded to the Boston Medical Center for a report of a 3rd victim self applying with a gunshot wound to the leg. On arrival, officers located and observed a 23 year-old male suffering from a non-life threatening injury.

DAILY INCIDENTS FOR SATURDAY, AUGUST 1, 2009

BICYCLIST STRUCK BY CAR IN JAMAICA PLAIN EXPECTED TO SURVIVE
At about 12:01am, on Saturday, August 1, 2009, officers from Area E-13 (Jamaica Plain) responded to a radio call for a motor vehicle accident involving a man on a bicycle in the area of Centre and Lamartine Streets. On arrival, officers located a 21 year-old black male lying on the ground, being treated by EMS. The victim was transported to the Beth Israel Hospital with life threatening injuries. Officers spoke to the motorist who stated that he never saw the man on the bike. According to the motorist, he was attempting to make a turn onto Lamartine when he felt and heard something strike the passenger side of his car. Officers observed and did take note of damage to the motorist’s passenger side door and window. After being struck, the motorist states that he stopped his car and pulled over to see what had happened. Upon exiting his car, the motorist stated that he observed an individual lying on the ground unconscious with a bicycle lying in close proximity.
