Officers Locate Firearm During Traffic Stop
Thursday, April 30, 2009, at approximately 9:16pm, Officers assigned to the Youth Violence Strike Force were on patrol in the area of Quincy Street when they observed a Grey Toyota Camry fail to signal a turn and proceed through a red light. The officers followed behind the suspect car and observed its rate of travel to increase. It was the officer’s opinion that the suspect vehicle was attempting to elude them. Due to a heavy volume of traffic, the suspect vehicle was forced to stop on Quincy Street.
Officers exited their unmarked cruiser and approached the suspect vehicle. Upon noticing the oncoming police presence, the suspect vehicle continued forward but was again forced to stop due to the traffic. Officers confronted the two occupants of the vehicle and observed them to be extremely nervous. It should be noted that this area is considered a high crime area involving violent gun related activity. A computer check of the operator showed an outstanding warrant for his arrest. Both occupants were asked to step from the vehicle. Both subjects continued to display extreme nervous behavior, which aroused the suspicion of the officers. The operator was asked to step to the rear of the vehicle several times before he complied. He was also observed looking around in a way, which was interpreted to locate an escape route. Officers then conducted a search of vehicle’s “lunge” area and located a loaded .9mm semi-automatic handgun. The weapon had a high capacity magazine that was loaded with several hollow-point .9mm rounds. It was later learned that the firearm was stolen out of Montgomery County (7/16/2008).
Officers arrested Jeromie Johnson, 27, of Boston & Patricia Felix, 28, of Boston on the charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Carrying a Loaded Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Unlawful Possession of a High Capacity Magazine and Receiving Stolen Property.
