Suspect Comes Back Home to Get Arrested
Last night around 11:18pm, officers from the Youth Violence Task Force (Gang Unit) arrested suspect, Joseph C. Taylor, 18, of Dorchester and charged him with Unlawful Possession of Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and Carrying a Loaded Firearm.
The arrest stemmed from an investigation that started around 8:44pm when officers observed an individual “known to them” suddenly exit a car and flee down Devon St. while holding his waist area. Officers followed the suspect as he fled down Columbia Rd. towards Blue Hill Ave. and in front of 125 Devon St. observed him retrieve a gun from his waist and discard it in the front yard. Officers recovered the discarded firearm and continued to pursue the suspect but lost sight of him after he climbed fence crossing over to Stanwood Street.
Officers broadcast a description of the suspect and requested assistance from other officers. Numerous units flooded the area of the incident but were unsuccessful in locating the suspect. While in the area, officers observed an individual who had been in the car with the suspect near the front of 125 Devon St., the area where the gun had been discarded by the suspect, and attempted to stop him. That individual fled when police attempted to approach him and speak to him.
Officers continued to monitor the area since they knew the suspect lived in the area, and around 11:44pm observed two individuals in front of 93 Devon Street. Officers stopped the two individuals and discovered one of them to be the suspect that had discarded the firearm, and the other an occupant of the car that the suspect had exited. The suspect was placed under arrest, and his companion questioned about his identity.

ROUTINE TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO GUN ARREST
At about 5:28 PM on Saturday, March 1, 2008, officers from Area C-11 (Dorchester) observed a motor vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed along Greenbrier Street. As a result, officers activated their emergency equipment (lights & sirens) and stopped the motor vehicle. On arrival, officers could hear loud music emanating from the above-mentioned address. While officers approached the address, several neighbors approached the officers to tell them that the party had been going on for hours. Officers then knocked on the door and asked to speak to the occupants of the apartment. When one individual stepped forward, officers explained to the individual that the party needed to end because it was causing a disturbance to the peace. To which, the individual sarcastically replied, “Yeah .. whatever.” When the individual again refused to shut down the party, officers arrested Douglas Linbald, 21, of Brighton and charged him with Being the Keeper of a Disorderly House. Given the high incidence of graffiti in the area, officers stopped in order to speak to the suspects. While speaking to the suspects, officers further observed paint on the hands and shoes of all four individuals. When asked if they were in possession of spray paint, the individuals stated, “Yes.” A search of the suspects, specifically their back packs, enabled officers to recover approximately 41 cans of spray paint. A search of the immediate area for evidence of freshly painted graffiti enabled officers to locate several items. Officers arrested Nathaniel Lounder, 17, of Keene, NH, Alexander Reilly, 18, of Boston, a 16 year-old from Cumberland, ME, a 16 year-old from Stoddard, NH and charged all four with Destruction of Personal Property and Damage to Property by Graffiti.
Multiple Arrests Made in Teen’s Stabbing Death from May 2007
Five suspects in last year’s fatal stabbing of 16-year-old Terrence Jacobs are under arrest and investigators are seeking a sixth at this hour, Boston Police Commissioner Edward Davis and Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley announced today.
Within the past 24 hours, Boston Police homicide detectives working in conjunction with the Special Investigations Unit, Fugitive and Apprehension Unit, and SWAT team effected the arrests of five individuals responsible for Jacobs’ May 22, 2007, homicide.
In custody are:
1. ADMILSON VIZCAINO, 16 (D.O.B. 8/23/91), of Dorchester, charged with murder;
2. MARKEESE MITCHELL, 16 (D.O.B. 4/9/91), of Brockton, charged with murder;
3. TERRANCE PABON, 18 (D.O.B. 1/22/90), of Dorchester, charged with murder;
4. PAUL GOODE, a.k.a. PAUL JONES, 25 (D.O.B. 1/9/83), of Dorchester, charged with murder; and
5. RICHARD ALLEN, 20 (D.O.B. 3/23/87), of Dorchester, charged as an accessory before the fact to murder.
A sixth suspect, PEDRO ORTIZ, 28 (D.O.B. 8/8/79), of Dorchester, is also charged with murder and remains at large.
All are expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on Monday.
“These arrests come after more than nine months of investigation by Boston Police homicide detectives on the street and Suffolk prosecutors in the Grand Jury,” District Attorney Conley said. “It was an extremely complex set of facts with many moving parts, but these charges reflect the reality of what happened in Terrence Jacobs’ final moments.”
Commissioner Davis stated, “I would like to commend the extensive efforts put forth by the Boston Police Department and the District Attorney’s office for their relentless pursuit of justice. Their admirable work to identify and apprehend the perpetrators responsible for this horrific act will hopefully bring some measure of peace to Mr. Jacobs’ loved ones.”
Evidence suggests that Jacobs was involved in a simmering dispute with a group associated with Havelock and Wilcock streets in Dorchester. That dispute escalated on the evening of May 22, 2007, in a violent confrontation between the victim and a large group of assailants.
Boston Police and emergency medical technicians responded to the area of Havelock Street and Blue Hill Avenue shortly before 8:00 to find Jacobs suffering from multiple stab wounds. The victim was rushed to Boston Medical Center, where doctors pronounced him dead of his injuries.
DAILY INCIDENTS FOR SATURDAY, MARCH 1, 2008
Officers’ Training Leads to Gun Arrest
Around 10:55pm yesterday, officers from the Youth Violence Strike Force (Gang Unit) were strategically placed in different sections to monitor activity in the Warren Gardens Housing complex.
While engaged in this activity, officers’ attention was drawn to a group of young men loitering and walking back and forth behind several the apartments located on St. Richard and Fenno Streets. Officers continued to monitor this group and noticed that one individual would walk behind the apartments and furtively look back in the direction of St. Richard Street. Based on those observations, officers walked to the location where this individual had been observed to try to further determine the cause of his odd behavior.
Officers approached the subject and he initiated conversation with officers as they approached. While talking to the suspect, officers made note of the fact that the suspect’s hooded sweatshirt’s front pocket was heavily weighted down and that the lowest point of the hooded sweatshirt’s pocket appeared to be in the shape of a barrel of a gun. Based on training and experience and specifically a training from the Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms Bureau about the “Characteristics of an Armed Gunman” officers formed the opinion that the suspect was armed.
Having formed the opinion that the suspect was armed, officers approached him to confirm their belief when the suspect fled on foot. A lengthy foot chase ensued during which the suspect jumped over several fences. After some time, the suspect was stopped and attempted to mislead officers in a different direction as to the path he had taken during the pursuit. Officers, however, had observed the suspect’s path and followed tracks left in the snow and behind a house located the gun that the suspect had possessed.
The suspect, John Carr, 18, of Roxbury was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Possession of Class D for marijuana found on his person and Trespassing.
Reckless Driver Arrested for Driving to Endanger
Last night around 11:17pm, officers from District B-2 (Dorchester and Roxbury) arrested suspect, Rande Toney-Evans, 17, of Dorchester and charged her with Operating without Being Licensed, Leaving the Scene of an Accident with Personal Injury, Reckless Operation, Failure to Stop for Police, Speeding, Crossing Double Yellow Line, and Failure to Stop for a Red Light.
Officers were first alerted to the suspect while coming back from another incident. Officers pulled up behind the suspect’s car in traffic en route to District B-2 when she suddenly pulled away at a high rate of speed on Warren St. towards Dudley Street. As the suspect approached Dudley St., she crossed the double yellow lines to pass a vehicle and continued through the intersection despite the red light. As the suspect continued through the intersection, she lost control of her car and crashed into another motor vehicle in traffic. The suspect then attempted to flee the scene and took off, all the while “fishtailing” down Dudley Street. As the suspect’s car “fishtailed” down Dudley St. she lost control and crashed into a parked car.
The suspect was then placed under arrest and transported to the district station. The owner of the car was cited for Allowing an Improper Person to Operate due to the fact that the suspect was unlicensed.
Copper Thief Caught Wheeling Evidence from the Scene
At approximately 12:50am this morning, officers from District D-4 (South End) responded to a radio call for a larceny in progress in the rear of 195 Marlborough Street.
En route, officers were provided with a description of the suspect and on arrival observed an individual matching the suspect description pushing a shopping cart filled with pieces of copper. Officers located a witness who told them that he has had to replace his copper downspouts at last three times in the past due to theft. The witness stated that he was awakened by noise in the alley and observed the suspect walking in the alley, heard some noise in the alley and then observed him walking out with a large piece of copper downspout in his hand and placing it in his cart.
Officers surveyed the suspect’s shopping cart and observed several copper O-rings used to secure the downspouts in the suspect’s shopping cart. Officers conducted a search of the area and located several missing downspouts.
The suspect, David Perez, 45, of Roxbury was arrested and charged Larceny Over $250.00.
