UPDATE TO HOMICIDE ON GREENBRIER & PARK STREETS

HOMICIDE VICTIM IDENTIFIED
At about 10:40pm, on Sunday, February 3, 2008, officers from Area C-11 (Dorchester) responded to a radio call for a person shot in the area of Greenbrier and Park Streets. On arrival, officers located a black male, lying in front of 377 Park Street, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was transported to the Boston Medical Center where he was later pronounced. The victim has since been identified as Donald George Smith Jr., 35, of Boston.
The Boston Police Department is actively investigating the facts and circumstances surrounding this incident. Anyone with information is strongly urged to contact the Boston Police Homicide Unit at (617) 343-4470.

DAILY INCIDENTS FOR MONDAY, FEBRUARY 4, 2008

ROUTINE TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO GUN ARREST
At about 4:54pm, on Friday, February 1, 2008, officers from Area B-2 (Roxbury) on patrol in the area of Crawford Street and Walnut Avenue observed a motor vehicle traveling at an unreasonable rate of speed. As a result, officers activated their emergency equipment (lights & sirens) and stopped the motor vehicle. While speaking to the operator of the motor vehicle, officers noted that the operator of the car was breathing heavily and appeared to be nervous. Additionally, officers were able to detect an odor of marijuana coming from within the motor vehicle. When asked if there were any weapons inside the car, the operator replied, “Don’t I have a right to a lawyer.” After being made aware of his Miranda rights, the operator was asked to exit the motor vehicle. A search of the motor vehicle enabled officers to recover a black semiautomatic firearm, an undisclosed amount of marijuana, an undisclosed amount of crack cocaine. Officers arrested Willie Greene, 27, of Roxbury and charged him with the Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Trafficking a Class B Drug (crack cocaine), Possession with the Intent to Distribute Class D Drug (marijuana)

CONFIRMED SHOOTING IN THE AREA OF GREENBRIER & PARK STREETS

At about 10:40pm, on Sunday, February 3, 2008, officers from Area C-11 (Dorchester) responded to a radio call for a person shot in the area of Greenbrier and Park Streets. On arrival, officers located a black male, lying in front of 377 Park Street, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim, a 35 year-old black male, was transported to the Boston Medical Center where he was later pronounced. The victim’s identity is being withheld pending family notifications and a medical autopsy.
The Boston Police Department is actively investigating the facts and circumstances surrounding this incident. Anyone with information is strongly urged to contact the Boston Police Homicide Unit at (617) 343-4470.

DAILY INCIDENTS FOR SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 3, 2008
SEXUAL ASSAULT SUSPECT ARRESTED DOWNTOWN
At about 7:40pm, on Saturday, February 2, 2008, officers from Area A-1 (Downtown) responded to a radio call for an assault & battery in progress in the area of Beach and Edinboro Streets. On arrival, officers were directed to a suspect who was sitting on the curb. Officers noted that the suspect had a strong odor of alcohol on his breath. According to witnesses, the suspect assaulted two different victims: sexually assaulting one and committing assault & battery on the other. Upon seeing the first attack, witnesses began yelling at the suspect. When witnesses began yelling, the suspect discontinued the attack and fled. While fleeing the scene, the suspect pushed a 2nd victim and threw her to the ground. At this point, witnesses intervened and detained the suspect. Officers arrested Ezequiel Mandez, 46, of Boston and charged him with Assault & Battery. This incident to be further investigated by the Sexual Assault Unit and Area A-1 detectives.
PARTY THROWER ARRESTED FOR SERVING ALCOHOL TO MINORS
At about 12:45am, on Saturday, February 2, 2008, officers from Area B-2 (Roxbury) responded to a radio call for a fight in the area of 146 Calumet Street. On arrival, officers were unable to locate a fight, however, they were able to hear and see a loud party in the area of the original incident. As a result of their observations, officers approached the address in question. While approaching the address, officers observed several individuals drinking what appeared to be alcoholic beverages. When asked for identification to verify their ages, many of the partygoers stated that they were under 21 years of age. Officers then located the individual responsible for throwing the party. Matthew Hans, 22, of Roxbury was arrested and charged with Procuring Alcohol for Minors, Being the Keeper of a Disorderly House and Disturbing the Peace.
UNARMED ROBBER ARRESTED DOWNTOWN
At about 9:48pm, on Friday, February 1, 2008, officers from Area A-1 (Downtown) received a radio call of a robbery in progress at 181 Cambridge Street. On arrival, officers spoke to the victim who stated that he was counting his money when an
individual stepped up on him, hit his hand and, then, grabbed his cash. The victim described the suspect as a white male in his 40’s, wearing a green shirt and gray pants. A short time later, officers located an individual matching the description provided by the victim. When officers approached the suspect, the suspect pushed officers and attempted to flee. After a short foot pursuit, officers arrested Robert Anderson, 55, of Boston and charged him with Unarmed Robbery, Resisting Arrest and Assault & Battery on a Police Officer. A search of the suspect enabled officers to recover the victim’s money. The money recovered was equal to the amount reported by the victim.

DAILY INCIDENTS FOR SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 2, 2008

MAN WITH GUN ARRESTED IN DORCHESTER
At about 3:04pm, on Friday, February 1, 2008, officers from Area B-3 (Mattapan/Dorchester) responded to a radio call for a person with a gun in the area of 45 Fowler Street in Dorchester. While en route to the call, a description of the suspect was broadcast over Channel 3 of the police radio. The suspect was described as a black male wearing all black. On arrival, officers observed an individual matching the description provided by witnesses. The suspect was standing outside, on the 2nd floor porch, of the above address. Officers entered the location in order to speak to the suspect. Once inside the location, officers conducted a protective search of the premise. As a result of the search, officers were able to recover a firearm. At this point, however, officers were unable to locate the suspect. As a result, the SWAT team was called in to assist in the effort to locate the suspect. As the SWAT team was about to enter the 3rd floor apartment, the suspect announced his presence and exited the apartment. Officers arrested Lloyd Cayman, 18, of Dorchester and charged him with the Unlawful Possession of a Firearm & Ammunition.
MOVING DAY LANDS 4 IN CUSTODY FOR BREAKING & ENTERING
At about 10:50am, on Friday, February 1, 2008, officers from Area E-13 (Jamaica Plain) responded to a radio call for a breaking and entering in progress in the area of 20 Walnut Park in Roxbury. According to the victim, she was pulling into her driveway when she observed 4 suspects leaving her house. The victim further states that she observed the suspects, while carrying her belongings, enter three vehicles before fleeing the scene. The victim described one of the vehicles as a burgundy van with lettering on the side that read, ”Tiny’s Flowers.” A short time later, officers located and stopped a red van matching the description provided by the victim. In addition to the red van, officers were also able to stop the other 2 vehicles. The victim was brought to the scene of the stop where she was able to positively identify the suspects and all three vehicles. Officers arrested Reginald Patterson, 49, of Brockton, Ladonna Hampton, 35, of Boston, Adrainne Noble, 36, of Roxbury, Dwayne Patterson, 41, of Everett and charged all four with Breaking & Entering a Dwelling (Daytime).

DAILY INCIDENTS FOR FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 1, 2008

SEARCH WARRANTS LAND THREE IN POLICE CUSTODY
At about 1:00 pm, on Thursday, January 31, 2008, officers from the Area E Neighborhood Drug Unit executed a search warrant at 4574 Washington Street in Roslindale. On arrival, officers entered the address and searched the apartment. As a result of the search, officers were able to recover the following items: an undisclosed amount of marijuana, an undisclosed amount of crack cocaine, a pipe, several plastic bags and a black firearm (loaded). As a result of items found, officers arrested Randolph Spencer, 42, of Roslindale and Rafael Risk, 52, of Roslindale. Spencer will be charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Class B and D Drugs, the Unlawful Possession of a Firearm & Ammunition. Risk will be charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Class B Drugs, Distribution of Class D Drugs and the Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.
At about 11:30am, on Wednesday, January 30, 2008, officers from the Area E Neighborhood Drug Unit executed a search warrant at 69 Beechland Street in West Roxbury. On arrival, officers entered the address and searched the apartment. As a result of the search, officers were able to recover the following items: a black firearm (loaded), an undisclosed amount of marijuana and several plastic bags. As a result of items found, officers arrested Tyren Thompson, 29, of Roslindale and charged him with the Unlawful Possession of a Firearm & Ammunition and Possession of a Class D Drug (marijuana).
