Homeowner Comes Home to Find B&E Suspect Walking Out of Her Home

Yesterday, Friday, November 2, 2007, officers from District C-11 responded to 36 Greenwich St. in Dorchester for a breaking and entering in progress.

On arrival, officers spoke to the victim who stated that she came home and as she exited her vehicle observed the suspect exit and then re-enter her house. The victim reported that the suspect acted as if he was visiting someone on another level as she entered the house. The victim walked in and immediately noticed that her door was ajar and a number of items were missing from her apartment. The victim supplied officers with a description of the suspect motor vehicle along with his plate as he had driven away prior to police arrival.

The description was broadcast, and soon assisting officers located and stopped the suspect’s motor vehicle at the intersection of Topliff and Ridgewood Streets. The victim was taken to suspect’s location where she positively identified the suspect and stolen articles were recovered from the suspect’s van.

Suspect, Tho T. Tran, 44, of Dorchester was arrested and charged Breaking and Entering, and Operating a Motor Vehicle after Suspension.

Just “Rolling a Joint” in Public Will Get You Arrested

Yesterday around 7:30pm in the area of East Berkeley St. and Harrison Ave. officers from District D-4 observed an individual rolling a marijuana cigarette. Officers stopped the suspect and questioned him as to what he was doing and he responded that he was “rolling a joint.” Officers then identified their station and placed the suspect, Jacinto Abdalah, 38, of Quincy under arrest for possession of Class D.

After being placed under arrest, officers determined that the suspect was in possession of additional Class D, and was also found to have an outstanding warrant for Armed Robbery, and Assault with Intent to Murder.

Cab Ride Turns into a Ride in the Back of a Cruiser

Last night around 11:50pm, officers from District B-2 responded to Calumet St. and Sachem St. for a fight between a cab driver and a fare.

On arrival, officers observed the cab driver’s shirt and pants ripped from struggling with the fare. Officers spoke to the victim/cab driver who reported that he had picked up the suspect/fare at north Station and was first directed to take the suspect to Boston University (B.U.). While en route to B.U., the cab driver was redirected to Calumet St. by the suspect. The victim reported to officers that when he arrived at Calumet St. the suspect was “passed out” in the back seat and he exited the front seat in an attempt to wake up the suspect. Per victim, the suspect became very violent when he tried to wake him up, kicked him in the face, and then proceeded to punch the victim in the face.

The suspect, Brendan T. Collins, 21, of Allston was arrested and charged with Assault and Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon, Assault and Battery, and Possession of Class D for marijuana found on his person during the booking procedure.

Underage Drinker Arrested “Just Carrying” Alcohol

Officers arrested Paul Riyad, 18, of Boston this morning and charged him with Public Drinking, and Minor in Possession of Alcohol.

This morning around 12:49am, officers from B-2 on patrol in the area of Tremont St. observed the suspect walking down the street with a red cup in hand. Officers stopped the suspect and questioned him as to the contents of the cup, and why he was drinking in public. The suspect answered that he was just carrying the cup. The suspect was placed under arrest for the above noted offenses.
