BANK ROBBER APPREHENDED

Yesterday at 10:19am, area A-1 (Downtown) officers responded to a call for a robbery in progress at the First Federal Savings Bank at 19 School Street. On arrival, officers began to canvass the area of School Street and Washington Street in an attempt to locate the suspect. Officers learned via radio broadcast that the suspect was believed to be armed and had possibly entered a cab.
Soon after, the cab containing the suspect was stopped on Congress Street where the suspect was handcuffed. Cash and a firearm were recovered and retained for evidence. After being positively identified on-scene by victims, police arrested James Callahan, 54, of South Boston, for Armed Robbery (Bank).
