At about 2:35am, on Tuesday, August 28, 2007, officers from Area D-4 (South End) responded to a radio call for a hit and run accident at the intersection of Dartmouth and Stuart Streets. On arrival, officers observed a motor vehicle that appeared to have crashed into the corner of a building. Officers then spoke to the victim who stated that a car struck her car and forced her off the road. Officers then broadcast a description of the suspect’s vehicle over Channel 5 of the police radio. A nearby detail officer spotted and stopped the car. Officers then brought the suspect back to the scene of the accident where the victim was able to provide a positive identification. Officers then arrested Farris Jaber, 19, of Waltham and charged him with Leaving the Scene of an Accident (Personal Injury).

NEVER TOO LATE TO MAKE A PINCH

At about 9:40pm, on Thursday, May 24, 2007, officers from Area D-4 (South End) responded to a radio call for a larceny in progress at 147 Massachusetts Avenue. On arrival, officers spoke to the victim who stated that an unidentified black male, wearing a red Hawaiian shirt, exited a motor vehicle, approached her and then took her purse. The suspect then jumped back inside the car and fled.

Approximately, four months later, on Tuesday, August 28, 2007, the same victim from the above incident called police to report that the man who robbed her on May 24, 2007, was standing in front of the Store 24 on Massachusetts Avenue. After being positively identified by the victim, the suspect, Jerome Spencer, 39, of Boston, was arrested and charged with Unarmed Robbery (Purse Snatching).

KNIFE POSSESSING TRESPASSER ARRESTED IN SOUTHIE

This area has been the source of numerous complaints attributed to trespassing, loud noise and public drinking. As such, officers approached the two individuals. While speaking to one of the individuals, officers asked if he lived in the development. To which, the suspect replied, “No, I do not.” When officers conducted a search of the suspect, officers discovered a knife with a blade longer than 2 ½” in length. Officers then arrested Joseph O’Reilly, 18, of South Boston and charged him with the Possession of a Dangerous Weapon (Knife) and Trespassing.
