Patriotic Discussion Leads to Assault with Corona Bottle
At approximately 4:30pm yesterday, Wednesday, July 4, 2007, officers from District A-7 (East Boston) responded to a disturbance on Sumner Street.
On arrival at 108 Webster St. officers observed the victim covered in blood, bleeding from the bridge of his nose. Conversation with the victim revealed that he was drinking with a friend when an argument ensued about which countries they from. As a result of this argument, the victim was struck in the face with a Corona bottle causing a laceration to the bridge of his nose. Suspect, Walter E. Guillen, 23, of East Boston was arrested and charged with Assault and Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon.
“Don’t Park in Front of My House”
Around 6:23pm, yesterday, July 4, 2007, officers from District 14 (Brighton/Allston) arrested suspect, Wei Chin, 25, of Brighton and charged him with Malicious Destruction of Property and Resisting Arrest.
Officers initially responded to 9 Cygnet St. in Allston for vandalism in progress. The caller reported that there was a male outside throwing bricks at her brother’s car. Officers spoke to the owner of the car who reported that a man came out of 9 Cygnet St. and started throwing bricks at his car while yelling “Don’t park in front of my house!” Officers responded to 9 Cygnet St. after investigation of the facts, located the suspect and placed him under arrest after a brief struggle.
I Love My Wife
Yesterday, July 4, 2007 around 6:54pm, officers from District 5 (West Roxbury/Roslindale) responded to a radio call for a man being assaulted with a machete.
On arrival officers disarmed the suspect, and spoke to all parties to determine what caused this assault. Officers spoke to witnesses who reported that the victim and suspect are and have been friends for a long time. On this date, the victim came over the suspect’s house and they both had been drinking since 11am. At some point during the evening, the suspect’s girlfriend walked into the kitchen and was followed by the victim. The suspect immediately became suspicious and thought something was going on between them. At this point the suspect started pushing the victim until they got outside where the suspect grabbed a machete and attacked the victim.
Both victim and suspect sustained minor injuries and were transported to the hospital for treatment. Suspect, Francisco Correa, 52, of Roslindale was arrested and charged with Assault and Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon.
“Plain View” of Contraband Leads Suspect to Jail
Last night, July 4, 2007 around 8:36pm, officers from District 11 (Dorchester) were on patrol on Washington St. in the Four Corners section of the city when they observed two males riding their bicycles toward Columbia Road. Officers further made observation that one of the individuals riding on the bicycles had contraband/fireworks sticking out the rear pocket of his pants.
Both individuals were stopped and asked if they possessed any contraband to which both replied negatively. Officers then pointed out to one of the two stopped individuals that fireworks could clearly be seen protruding from his pocket. During stop of these two individuals officers recovered 16 individually wrapped plastic bags of marijuana and placed a 14-year-old juvenile from Dorchester under arrest for Possession of Class D with Intent to Distribute.
Confirmed Shooting at Arbutus Street and Ashton Street
At approximately 7:23pm today, Wednesday, July 4, 2007, officers from District B-3 (Mattapan) responded to Arbutus St. and Aston St. for a person shot.
On arrival officers located a male victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to Boston Medical Center by ambulance with serious injuries and rushed into surgery. The victim, post surgery, is in serious but stable condition.

Gun Possession Lands One In Jail
Last night at 10:58pm, members of the Youth Violence Strike Force and officers from District B-3 responded to area of Wildwood Street for a report of a large group causing a disturbance on Marden Street. As officers turned onto Wildwood Street they hear loud music coming from the area of Middleton Street and Theodore Street. As officers approached the group on foot a male who was on a bicycle began to peddle in the opposite direction, while the rest of the group continued walking towards officers. Officers followed behind the male cutting through open backyards. As officers approached the suspect he attempted to strike an officer in the face with his forearm.
Darwin Jones, 28, of Mattapan was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Possession with Intent to Distribute Class B within 1000ft of a School Zone, Possession of Class d, Resisting Arrest and Assault and Battery on a Police Officer. Officers did recover a firearm and drugs from the suspect.
Two Arrested After Taking A Dog For A Walk
At 12:30am, officers from District A-7 were on patrol when a hysterical victim approached them and stated someone just stole her brown and black boxer from in front of Walgreen’s. The victim stated she secured her dog Bella to a pole while she went into Walgreen’s and returned moments later to find her dog gone. Officers drove the victim around in the area in an attempt to locate the dog.
Officers were approached by a male who stated that he observed a white female and a white male wearing a white t-shirt, black pants and glasses running down Meridian Street with a brown and black boxer. Witness further stated that they observed the female with the dog go into an address on Meridian Street. Officers observed the white male matching the description and conducted a threshold inquiry. The suspect stated that he and his friend just took the dog for a walk.
Officers proceeded to the third floor and heard loud barking coming from inside one of the apartments. Officers knocked on the door and observed the victim’s dog inside the apartment. The female suspect stated she only wanted to take the dog for a walk. Thomas McEachern, 50, of Bedford and Diane Kratman, 42, of East Boston were both arrested and charged with larceny Over $250.
Suspect Arrested After Scaling Brick Wall
This morning around 1:00am, officers from District E-5 responded to a radio call for someone climbing up to a second floor window at 181 Georgetown Drive. On arrival, officers spoke with the victim who stated while entertaining guest their attention was drawn to the living room window where they observed a male looking into the window. The victim stated they called police and several guest ran outside and observed the suspect jumping from the window ledge. Robert Stephens, 34, of Norwood was arrested and charged with Attempted Breaking and Enter and Disorderly Person.

Police Still Seeking Second Suspect
Today at about 2:20pm, members of the Boston Police Fugitive & Apprehension Unit, Homicide Unit, United States Marshals, State Police and District C-11 successfully affected the arrest of Jovan Adams, 22, of Dorchester. Mr. Adams will be arraigned on Thursday morning in Dorchester District Court.
After a thorough and exhaustive investigation of the incident, Homicide detectives applied for and were granted arrest warrants for Jovon Adams, 22, of Dorchester and Taquise Johnson, 18, of Roxbury. Adams and Johnson are wanted in connection with the murder of Mr. Andrade and the shooting of the female victim.
At approximately 5:15 pm, on Tuesday, May 15, 2007, officers from District B-3 (Mattapan) responded to a radio call for shots fired on Ames Street in Dorchester. On arrival, officers located two victims, both suffering from gunshot wounds. One victim later identified as, Cordeiro Andrade, 20, of Roxbury, succumbed to his injuries after being rushed to Boston Medical Center. The second victim, a female, was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Investigators are making every effort to locate and apprehend the second suspect. Below please find his description. At this time, we are unable to release photo due to eyewitness identification issues.

DRUG ARREST MADE IN THE SOUTH END
At about 6:30pm, on Monday, July 2, 2007, officers from Area D-4 Neighborhood Drug Unit observed drug activity in the area of Massachusetts Avenue and Washington Street. Officers observed two individuals walk up to a third individual. After a brief conversation, an exchange, which, according to officers, was consistent with a drug transaction, was made between the two parties. After the transaction was consummated, the two parties went their separate ways. Officers then approached the party that purchased the drugs. During questioning, the suspect admitted to officers that he had just purchased crack cocaine. Officers then approached the individual responsible for selling the drugs. Officers arrested Arthur Miles, 20, of Roxbury, and Sudara Herndon, 30, of Roxbury, and charged both with the Distribution of Class B Drugs (crack cocaine).
GUN RECOVERED IN ROXBURY
At about 8:09pm, on Monday, July 2, 2007, officers from Area B-2 (Roxbury) observed a brown motor vehicle backing the wrong way down a one way. Officers activated their emergency equipment (lights & sirens) in effort to stop the motor vehicle. After a brief pursuit, the motor vehicle finally came to a stop. Officers then approached the vehicle and arrested the operator, Jesse Lassiter, 33, of Mattapan, and charged him with Refusing to Stop for a Police Officer. As officers were searching the motor vehicle, a gun was found under the passenger side front seat. As a result, officers arrested the passenger, Junior Gray, 19, of Dorchester, and charged him with the Unlawful Possession of a Firearm & Ammunition.
WITH A FRIEND LIKE THIS .. WHO NEEDS ENEMIES
At about 4:30pm, on Monday, July 2, 2007, officers from Area A-7 (East Boston) responded to a radio call for a breaking and entering at 281 Princeton Street. On arrival, officers spoke to the victim who stated that a friend came by to visit him. Victim then told officers that he and his friend left his house together. But, according to witnesses, the victim’s friend returned to the victim’s residence and was observed breaking in thru a front window. Upon returning home, victim says the following items were missing: an ipod, a digital camera, a playstation and a number of games. Victim says he then confronted the suspect. When he did, the suspect smashed the victim’s digital camera right in front of him. Victim then recovered the damaged camera and returned home. Detectives from Area A-7 continue to investigate this incident.

Three Arrested For Breaking and Entering
Yesterday morning at 4:42am, officers from District C-6 responded to a radio call for a breaking and entering in progress at 278 East 9th Street. On arrival, officers observed a large orange extension ladder lying on the ground under the windows of 278 East 9th Street. Officers also observed the middle window of the apartment to be opened.
Officers knocked on the front door of the apartment and announced their presence. Officers heard people moving about in the apartment and knocked on the door several times to no answers. While officers were standing in the hallway, the apartment door opened. A white female opened the door and standing behind her was a male also known to officers. Officers entered the apartment and found a third male.
Prior in the night, at approximately 3:16 am, all three suspects were directed by officers to leave the apartment during a prior incident. The apartment was locked and secured by officers at that time. Suspect Zukowski stated that they had permission from the leasee of the apartment to stay there. Earlier in the night suspect Zukowski stated the same, but could only produce the name of the leasee as “Rick”. Officer contacted Boston Housing and was informed that the leasee of the apartment was not “Rick”. David McCarthy, 40, and Pauline Zukowski, 42, both of South Boston were arrested and charged with Unarmed Breaking and Entering. Patrick Joyce, 41, of Roslindale was arrested and charged with Breaking and Entering a Building.
Gun Arrest in Roxbury
Last night at 9:35pm members of the District B-2 Drug Control Unit received information that a male wearing a black shirt and riding a bike in the area of Woodward Avenue was in possession of a firearm. Armed with this information, officers responded to this area in an attempt to locate the above-described suspect. Officers were monitoring the area of Woodward Av and George Street. Officers observed a group of five males in the area of the front stairs of 44 Woodward Avenue. Officers observed a bicycle leaning on the fence in the immediate area of the group.
With the information received, officers approached the group to investigate. At this time Officers observed a male riding a bicycle wearing a black shirt traveling down Woodward Av toward officers. Officers observed the male fitting the description that was provided and attempted to speak with him. At this time the male swerved the bicycle and attempted to go around officers. Officers were able to stop the suspect and again due to the information provided, officers immediately pat frisked the suspect, officers felt a hard object, and believed to be the handle of a firearm, in the right front waistband of the suspect. Michael Depina, 18, of Dorchester was arrested and charged with Unlawful Carrying of Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition and carrying a loaded firearm. The group of males was Fio’d and released. Officers did recover a firearm from the suspect.
No Leash Law For This Dog
This morning at 12:20am, officers from District C-11 responded to a radio call for an animal incident at Neponset Avenue and Victory Road. On arrival, officers spoke with the caller who stated while walking on Victory Road at Train Street she heard a woman screaming. She observed an elderly female, who was almost attacked by a dog. The caller observed a black or dark brown dog in the street unattended without a leash. The caller heard a male yelling at her to mind her own business. At that time, a male wearing a white t-shirt stated he was the owner of the dog. The elderly female had left the area before police arrived. Officers were unable to locate the male or the bullmastiff dog.
