NEIGHBORHOOD DRUG UNIT EFFECTS ARREST IN SOUTH BOSTON

At about 9:45am, on Friday, July 20, 2007, members of the Area C Neighborhood Drug Unit were conducting surveillance in the area of W. 9th Street when officers observed what appeared to be the aftermath of a drug transaction. As a result of their observations, officers then followed an individual leaving the scene in a motor vehicle. A short time later, officers observed the individual in the motor vehicle conduct what appeared to be a second drug transaction. When the suspect stopped and parked his vehicle in the area of Joyce Hayes Way, officers confronted the suspect. The suspect was found to be in the possession of Class B Drugs (Oxycontin).

Officers then arrested William Morin, 42, of South Boston, and charged him with Possession with the Intent to Distribute Class B Drugs (Oxycontin) and Possession with the Intent to Distribute within 1,000 Feet of a School Zone. Officers also arrested Paul O’Brien, 57, of South Boston, and charged him with the Distribution of Class B Drugs (Oxycontin).
