DAILY INCIDENTS FOR TUESDAY, JULY 31, 2007

BARREL TOSSER ARRESTED IN DORCHESTER

At about 10:00pm, on Monday, July 30, 2007, officers from Area C-11 (Dorchester) responded to a radio call for a fight at 50 Ridgewood Street. On arrival, officers observed a large group of kids walking in all directions in an effort to leave the area. In an effort to gather information about the altercation, officers approached an individual. When they did, the individual began to run and, then, threw a trash barrel in the direction of the officers. Officers arrested Thompson Khyree, 17, of Roxbury and charged him with Assault By Means of a Dangerous Weapon.

SCREECHING TIRES LEAD TO DRUG ARREST

At about 1:44am, on Tuesday, July 31, 2007, officers from Area C-6 (South Boston) observed a motor vehicle screeching its tires in the area of Dorchester and Gold Streets. As a result, officers activated their emergency equipment (lights & sirens) and pulled the car over. As officers were approaching the car, the operator attempted to exit his vehicle. Officers immediately instructed the suspect to stay in the car. Officers also observed that the suspect to have dilated pupils and bloodshot eyes. As a result of the aforementioned observations, officers then asked the suspect to exit his motor vehicle. When officers looked inside the motor vehicle, officers observed a small plastic bag containing a white powdery substance consistent with the appearance of cocaine. Officers arrested Patrick Sullivan, 36, of South Boston and charged him with Possession of Class B Drugs (cocaine).

July 30, 2007

DEATH INVESTIGATION ON MAYNARD STREET

On July 29, 2007 at approximately 8:47 pm, officers from District E-18 responded to a radio call for an investigate person at 4 Maynard Street in Roslindale. On arrival, officers entered the apartment and discovered multiple victims who appeared to be unconscious. EMS was requested immediately. Soon thereafter, EMS arrived and pronounced one 12-year-old female and one 10-year-old male. The remaining 31 year-old female was rushed to Brigham and Women’s Hospital. She is now being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Homicide detectives are actively investigating this incident. Investigators are in the process of conducting numerous interviews and reviewing crime scene evidence. At this time, the cause of death for both children is undetermined. Detectives are awaiting autopsy results from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

Police Commissioner Ed Davis stated, “On behalf of the Boston Police Department, I would like to extend my condolences to the family and friends of the victims. We are deeply saddened by this tragic incident. I would also like to extend my sympathy to the first responders on the scene.”

DAILY INCIDENTS FOR MONDAY, JULY 30, 2007

UNARMED ROBBER ARRESTED DOWNTOWN

At about 10:48pm, on Sunday, July 29, 2007, officers from Area A-1 (Downtown) responded to a radio call for a fight in progress at the intersection of Winter and Washington Streets. On arrival, officers spoke to the victim who stated that the suspect approached him and then repeatedly asked him for a dollar. As the victim was pulling money out of his pocket, the suspect grabbed all of the money in his hand and, then, fled. The victim chased the suspect and had the suspect down on the ground when police arrived on the scene. Officers arrested Rory O’Driscoll, 38, of Quincy and charged him with Unarmed Robbery.

PICK-POCKETER ARRESTED DOWNTOWN

At about 2:00am, on Sunday, July 29, 2007, officers from Area A-1 (Downtown) responded to a radio call for a larceny in progress. On arrival, officers observed two individuals arguing. Officers spoke to one of the individuals who stated that the suspect stopped him and, then, asked him if he wanted a date. According to the victim, he told the suspect he didn’t need a date because he had a girlfriend. Victim also told officers that while the suspect was talking to him, the suspect kept rubbing his back and grabbing his buttocks. When the victim finally walked away, the suspect reached into his pocket and discovered that his wallet had just been stolen. As a result, the victim ran after the suspect. When the victim caught up to suspect and demanded his wallet, the suspect pointed to the ground and said, “There’s your wallet.” Victim picked up his wallet, looked inside and discovered that all of his money was stolen. Officers arrested Cheryl Felicia Gomes, 48, of Boston and charged her with Larceny from the Person.

DROWNING VICTIM IDENTIFIED

At about 6:52pm, on Sunday, July 29, 2007, officers from Area E-13 (Jamaica Plain) received a radio call for a person drowning in Jamaica Pond. On arrival, officers spoke to witnesses who stated a black female went into the water and then disappeared. Boston Police and Fire dive teams entered the water and located an unresponsive black female. DeAngela Fuller, 43, of Roxbury was immediately transported to Brigham & Women’s Hospital where she was later pronounced.

BOSTON POLICE APPREHEND SEXUAL ASSAULT SUSPECT

This morning members of the Boston Police Fugitive and Apprehension Unit along with investigators from the Sexual Assault Unit successfully affected the arrest of Monty Garrett, 50, of Boston. Garrett has been identified as the individual wanted in connection with the recent sexual assault that occurred in the South End.

After a thorough and exhaustive investigation, Sexual Assault detectives yesterday applied for and were granted an arrest warrant for Garrett.

On July 24, 2007 at approximately 12:00pm, Garrett forced his way into the victim's home in the area of Clarendon Street and Columbus Avenue. Garrett knocked on the victim's door and announced himself as a "maintenance worker". He struggled with the victim and sexually assaulted her.

Immediately following the incident, detectives canvassed the area and released a suspect description to the public. In addition, investigators were able to obtain DNA evidence that was sent to the State Police Crime Lab for review. Yesterday afternoon lab results were returned linking Garrett to the crime.

Superintendent Bruce Holloway stated, "I would like to commend the collaborative efforts of the Sexual Assault Unit, the Fugitive and Apprehension Unit and officers from District D-4 for their tremendous work in swiftly locating this dangerous suspect. I would also like to extend a special thank you to the State Police for their efforts in identifying Monty Garrett as the individual responsible for this horrific act."

Garrett will be charged with Aggravated Rape, Kidnapping, Assault and Battery on a Person over 60, Unarmed Robbery and Threats.

Mr. Garrett will be arraigned Monday morning in Boston Municipal Court.

Search Warrant Executed In Brighton

Yesterday at 7:00pm, members of the District 14 Drug Control Unit executed a search warrant at 197 Kelton Street. Nathaniel Benson, 46, of Brighton, Luciano Pio, 26, of Brighton and Luis Muniz, 22, of Chelsea were arrested and charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Class B. Arthur Hodges, 21, of Dorchester was arrested and charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Class B and Possession with Intent to Distribute Class D. Officers did recover Marijuana, crack cocaine, Oxycontin and cash.

Firearm Recovered

Last night at approximately 9:42pm, members of the Youth Violence Strike Force were traveling on Thane Street towards Harvard Street. As the officers proceeded on Thane Street they observed a group of approximately ten individuals congregated in the area. At this point, officers observed a male riding a bicycle, break away from the group and proceed on his bike up the sidewalk of Thane Street towards Harvard Street. At 30 Thane Street, the suspect stopped his bike abruptly and pulled up to the front steps of this address. Officers exited their cruiser and spoke with the suspects who remained seated on his bike. The officers observed the suspect was extremely nervous; his hands were shaking as he spoke to the officers. The suspect failed to make eye contact with the officers and continuously looked left and right. As officers moved closer to suspect he turned the right side of his body away from the officer. Officers were concerned for their safety and believed that a pat-frisk for weapons. During this pat-frisk officers felt a hard object in suspects right front pants-pocket, which he immediately recognized as a gun. A 16-year-old juvenile male from Dorchester was arrested and charged with Possession of a Loaded Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition. Officers did recover a loaded firearm from the suspect.

Person Shot in Dorchester

Last night 9:56pm Officers assigned to the Special Operations Division/Mobile Operations Patrol did on-sight a shooting incident at the corner of Hancock St and Upham Avenue, Dorchester. As the officers were on random patrol in the Uphams Corner area and stopped at the red light on Hancock Street at Columbia Road, they heard two gunshots coming from behind their vehicle. Officers directed their attention to the rear and observed an unknown black male, approximately 5'07'' 150lbs, clad in a black and white ball cap, white t-shirt with black writing or design and dark blue or black shorts standing on Upham Ave at Hancock St fire two more shots from what appeared to be a black firearm in the direction of the Rent-A-Center parking lot on Hancock Street.

The officers immediately reversed direction and observed the suspect flee on foot, Upham Avenue towards Wilbur Street. As the officers made the left onto Wilbur Street the suspect was no longer in sight. The officers immediately searched checked the stair way which leads from the Strand Theater parking lot out onto Hancock St, where they observed the suspect still running and now turning left onto Columbia Rd in the direction of Bird St. Officers located a victim, in the rear of St. Kevin's School suffering from a gunshot wound to the buttocks. The victim was transported to Boston Medical Center and treated for a non-life threatening.

Walking Beat Officers Arrest Two For Public Drinking

Yesterday at 8:54pm, officers from District B-2 assigned to the Grove Hall Safe Street Beat Team were in the area of Seaver Street and observed two suspect drinking alcoholic beverages in front of 329 Seaver Street. As the officers approached the suspects they began to walk away. Officers ordered the suspect to come back. They ran onto the porch and then inside. Officers ordered one of the suspects who still had a forty-ounce in his hand to empty the beer but he did not comply. Officers again ordered the suspect to empty the beer and which time the suspect started to walk away to the rear of the house and was placed under arrest. An officer then observed the second suspect come out of the house and was standing on the porch. Officers order the suspect to come down from the porch. The suspect attempted to run back into the house, only to realize the door had locked behind him.

Lamar Henley, 22, of Mattapan was arrested and charged with Drinking Alcoholic Beverages in Public. Rayol Walthour, 29, Roxbury was arrested and charged with Resisting Arrest and Drinking Alcoholic Beverages in Public.

Two Arrested With An AK47

Last night at 9:12pm, officers from District b-3 were patrolling the area of Hazelton Street and observed a motor vehicle with a broken left drivers mirror. Further investigation revealed the vehicle did not have an inspection sticker. Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on Gilmer Street, but the motor vehicle continued on Gilmer taking a right onto Wilmore Street. The vehicle continued at a slow speed and finally came to a stop. As officers approached the vehicle they observed the occupants moving around the vehicle.

Officers could detect the scent of burnt marijuana coming from the vehicle. Officers asked the suspects if there was any more marijuana in the vehicle. The occupants stated we don’t smoke weed. Offices observed marijuana in the center console.

Officers asked one of the suspects to step from the vehicle as he did so he turned his left side away from the officer and scrunched down. Officers fearing the suspect was attempting to conceal a weapon reached for his left side and grabbed his left pocket. Officers felt a hard metallic object and observed from the top of his pocket a loaded magazine. Officers checked the rear seat of the vehicle and felt a rifle in the leg of a pair of jeans on the rear seat. Officers open the jeans and observed the assault rifle in the pants leg.

Omaro Isaacs, 30, of Dorchester and Douglas Blackwood, 29, of Roslindale were both arrested and charged with Possession of Sawed-Off Shotgun or Machine Gun, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Possession of a High Capacity Magazine and Possession of Class D. Officers did recover drugs and a gun from the suspects. Both suspects will be arraigned on Monday morning in Dorchester District Court.

Stabbing Suspect Arrested

Early this morning around 1:45am, officers from District C-6 responded to a radio call for a person stabbed at 214 W 5th Street. On arrival, officers observed the victim a male bleeding from the head. The victim was transported to Boston Medical Center and treated for a non-life threatening injury. Officers were informed that the suspect called the witness on her phone and the victim answered the phone. A verbal exchanged occurred between the victim and the suspect. At that time the suspect smashed the bedroom window with a two by four and ran into the front door with a knife in his hand and stabbed the victim. The suspect fled the area in a grey vehicle.

Several individual informed officers that they heard screaming at which time they observed two males fighting. They stated at that time the suspect fled out the front door. Officers received information that the suspect was located on Union Street in Braintree. Boston Police along with Braintree Police and State Police observed the suspect in the drivers seat and place him under arrest. Anthony Giangergario, 45, of South Yarmouth was arrested and charged with Home Invasion and Assault with Intent to Murder.

DAILY INCIDENTS FOR FRIDAY, JULY 27, 2007

3 LESS GUNS IN THE CITY

At about 6:38pm, on Thursday, July 26, 2007, officers from the Youth Violence Strike Force observed an individual running down Dudley Street in Roxbury. When officers approached the individual and identified themselves as police officers, the individual attempted to flee. After stopping the individual, officers discovered the individual to be in possession of a firearm. When asked to produce a license to carry, the individual told officers he didn't have one. Officers arrested Jorge Luis Blanco, 22, of Boston, and charged him with the Unlawful Possession of a Firearm & Ammunition.

At about 7:15pm, on Thursday, July 26, 2007, officers from the Youth Violence Strike Force, were on patrol in Dorchester when they observed a motor vehicle, with a cracked front windshield, traveling along Columbia Road. While following the motor vehicle, officers observed the car fail to stop for a stop sign. As a result, officers activated their emergency equipment (lights & sirens) and stopped the car. While speaking to the operator of the motor vehicle, officers observed the individual to be extremely nervous (heavy breathing, shaky hands). As a result of the operator’s nervousness, officers asked the operator to exit the motor vehicle. During a search of the motor vehicle, officers recovered a silver semi-automatic firearm. Officers arrested Kareem Fountain, 26, of Dorchester and charged him with the Unlawful Possession of a Firearm & Ammunition.

At about 11:45pm, on Thursday, July 26, 2007, officers from the Youth Violence Strike Force responded to a radio call for a man with a gun in the area of Bicknell Street. On arrival, officers located an individual matching the description broadcast over Channel 3 of the police radio. When officers observed the suspect, the suspect was sitting on a stoop with another individual. Officers also observed 2 cans of open beer in the area immediately near the individuals. One of the individuals was found to be in possession of a firearm. Officers arrested Harvey Patterson, 17, of Dorchester and charged him with the Unlawful Possession of a Firearm & Ammunition.

Daily Incidents For July 26, 2007

Suspect Arrested with False Prescription

Last night at 4:07pm, officers from District E-5 (West Roxbury) responded to a radio call about a female attempting to pass a false prescription at the Walgreen’s on Centre Street. Upon arrival, officers met with the pharmacy manager who reported that the suspect has been calling in several false prescriptions for various painkiller medications in the past month, often posing as a doctor or doctor’s representative. The suspect has reportedly been changing the patient’s name on each prescription, as well as her hair color in an attempt to avoid being discovered. The suspect was currently in the store attempting to pick up more medication. Officers arrested Michele Gleeson, 58, of West Roxbury and charged her with Uttering or Publishing False Writings.

Road Rage

Last at 5:57pm, officers from District B-2 responded to a radio call for a female that had been threatened with a firearm. Officers spoke with the victim who stated that while driving her vehicle on Elmwood Street she approached the intersection of Malcolm X Boulevard. The traffic was stopped at which time she attempted to merge into the flow of traffic. The victim attempted to get in front of the suspect’s vehicle only to have the suspect block her car. The victim stated a verbal exchanged took place between her and the suspect, during which the suspect exited his vehicle and displayed a small knife in a threatening manner.

Upon seeing a male passenger in the victim’s car, turned back towards his vehicle, reached inside and displayed a firearm. A broadcast was made and about 20 minutes later officers observed the suspects empty vehicle parked unoccupied at the corner of Roxbury Street and Washington Street. Officers stopped the suspect who was known to them. At that time the suspect walked away from officers and was observed entering his vehicle. Upon seeing officers approaching, the suspect started the vehicle and fled at a high rate of speed. Officers were searching the area when a call was received that the suspect’s vehicle was abandoned at 333 Warren Street. Officers were informed that the suspect ducked out of the car clutching his waist and ran into a nearby shopping plaza. Officers immediately established a perimeter around the surrounding area. A thorough search utilizing a canine officer produced no suspect.

Three Arrested for Trespassing

Last night at 10:21pm, officers from District B-2 respond to a radio call for four men with firearms at 73 Weaver Way. As officers approached the building, the suspects ran down a footpath to Slayton Way and straight into the long arms of the law. Jerren Brown, 25, of Roxbury was arrested and charged with Trespassing and Possession of Class D with intent to Distribute. Two Roxbury juveniles both 16-year-old males were arrested and charged with Trespassing. Officers did recover one large bag of marijuana.

Person Shot on Hammond Street

This morning at 2:44am, officers from District D-4 responded to a radio call for a shooting at 30 Hammond Street. On arrival, officers observed the victim standing in the street. The victim was suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to Boston Medical Center and is in stable condition.

Daily Incidents for July 25, 2007

Search Warrant Yields Several Arrests, Recovered Firearms and Narcotics

Last night at 5:20pm, officers from District A-1 (Downtown) and members of the A-1 Neighborhood Drug Control Unit reported to 89 Dunstable Street in Charlestown to execute a search warrant. Upon arrival, Animal Control officers were dispatched due to an unlicensed pit bull being kept on the premises. After the dog was secured and removed from the house for safety reasons, officers began to investigate the residence in accordance with the search warrant.

While executing the search warrant, officers observed a metallic-type reflective paneling on the walls, heat ventilation machines, fluorescent lighting, and plant food. Such items are designed and utilized for the illegal growth and cultivation of marijuana. In addition, the following items were also recovered from the house: drug paraphernalia, plastic bags of a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana, a quantity of what is believed to be oxycontin and ecstasy pills, a plastic bag believed to contain PCP, and several unmarked prescription bottles containing pills believed to be Xanax, Klonopin, and Oxycodone. In addition officers recovered two firearms, a bayonet, a double-edged knife, a metal sign saying “DANGER: Many Illegal Activities In Progress Enter At Your Own Risk” and an undisclosed amount of cash.

Among those arrested were John Collier, 20, of Everett for Trespassing. Brent Awbrey, 18, Stephen Awbrey, 22, both of Charlestown were arrested and charged with Possession of Class B Substance with Intent to Distribute, Possession of Class B with Intent to Distribute within School Zone, Possession of Class D Substance with Intent to Distribute, Possession of Class D with Intent to Distribute within School Zone, Unlawful Possession of Firearm, and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition.

Elizabeth Awbrey, 40, of Charlestown, was also arrested and charged with Possession of Class B with Intent to Distribute within School Zone and Unlawful Possession of Firearm.


Can You Hear Me Now?

Yesterday at 11:40am, officers from District D-11 (Dorchester) responded to a reported larceny that had occurred at Dorchester District Courthouse. The victim reported that she had momentarily left her cell phone unattended on the front desk while assisting two individuals. When she returned, only one of the individuals remained and her cell phone had disappeared. The victim stated that she later received a phone call from her cousin who had called the missing cell phone and spoken to a male who said, “In order to get your phone back, it will cost you forty dollars.” The victim arranged to meet the victim at School Street to complete the transaction. Police officers responded instead, and they observed a black male meeting the description of the suspect and speaking on a cell phone. An undercover officer approached the suspect and informed him he was there to purchase the phone from him. Unaware he was dealing with police, the suspect called the victim to verify the man was her friend. Nasir Osman, 47, of Dorchester sold the phone to the officer and was consequently arrested and charged with Receiving Stolen Property over $250.


Vigilant Officers Locate and Apprehend Assault Suspect

Just after midnight this morning, officers from District A-1 (Downtown Boston) responded to a reported Assault and Battery by Tremont Street and Avery Street. Upon arrival, the victim approached the officer and stated, “I have been robbed of my cell phone!” The victim was visibly upset and holding a broken gold chain in her hands. She described the suspect as a thin, black male in his late thirties wearing a long white tee shirt that was ripped. She reported the man approached her while she was speaking on her phone and taking a drink from a water fountain. He stole her cell phone from her hands and assaulted her. A description of the suspect was broadcasted and a search of the area resulted in the suspect being located crossing Tremont Street and Stewart Street. After officers located the missing cell phone in the suspect’s pocket, the victim positively identified the man as her assailant. Jered Jones, 26, of Dorchester was arrested and charged with Unarmed Robbery and Assault and Battery.


Officers Recover Firearm and Arrest Suspect

Last night at 10:36pm, detectives from District C-11 (Dorchester) were patrolling Cameron Street, an area that has been experiencing firearm-related concerns, when they noticed a suspicious individual crossing the street. After glancing at the unmarked police car the officers were seated in, the suspect grabbed an object under his shirt and began to flee. Believing the suspect to be in possession of a firearm, officers began a foot pursuit. Officers then observed a firearm in the suspect’s hand. The suspect attempted to discard the weapon by throwing it over the roof of a nearby building. Officers were soon able to apprehend the suspect. The area was secured and a search for the weapon proved successful. Steve Depina, 20, of Cambridge was arrested and charged with Resisting Arrest, Unlawful Possession of Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Trespassing, and Buying, Receiving, or Concealing Stolen Goods.

BOSTON POLICE SEEK SEXUAL ASSAULT SUSPECT

Boston Police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a man suspected of sexually assaulting a 67 year-old female.

On July 24, 2007 at approximately 12:00pm, a suspect forced entry into the victim’s home in the area of Clarendon Street and Columbus Avenue. The suspect knocked on the victim’s door and announced himself as a “maintenance worker”. The suspect struggled with the victim and sexually assaulted her.

Boston Police Superintendent Bruce Holloway stated, “Detectives are canvassing the area looking for the assailant responsible for this vicious attack. In addition, we hope that someone will step forward and provide the information that Detectives need to locate and arrest this dangerous suspect.”

Suspect Description: The suspect is described as a dark skinned black male, approx. 30 years old, standing 5 ft. 7 in. with a medium build. He was last seen wearing a large pair of black-rimmed eyeglasses, a brown, button-down, short sleeve shirt with blue and gray stripes and gray sweatpants with a white drawstring. In addition, he is also reported to be missing three front teeth.

Monson Street Assault Ruled a Homicide

On Tuesday, June 5, 2007 around 11:23pm, officers from District B-3 (Mattapan/Dorchester) responded to 10 Monson St. for a person down. On arrival, officers observed the victim lying on the sidewalk in front of 7 Monson St. suffering from an apparent assault, bleeding from the head and in an unconscious state. The victim was rushed to Boston Medical Center by ambulance for treatment and evaluation.

On June 13, 2007 the victim passed away in the hospital while receiving treatment for his injuries. The victim is identified as Michael Hansbury, 41, of Mattapan.

The Medical Examiner determined the cause of death to be complications of brain injury due to blunt head trauma. The manner of death has been ruled a homicide.

Boston Police detectives are actively investigating this incident.

HOMICIDE VICTIM IDENTIFIED

At about 3:22am, on Saturday, July 21, 2007, officers from Area B-2 (Roxbury) responded to a radio call for shots fired in the area of Woodledge Street in Dorchester. On arrival, officers located an individual suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was immediately transported to Boston Medical Center where he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced.

The victim has been identified as Samuel Docanto, 21, of Dorchester.

Boston Police are actively investigating the facts and circumstances surrounding this incident. Anyone with information is strongly urged to contact the Homicide Unit at (617) 343-4470.

Man Arrested After Shots Fired in Mattapan

Yesterday morning around 1:12am, officers from District B-3 heard about three to four shots while at the intersection of Blue Hill Avenue and Woodhaven Street. Officers proceeded to drive toward the location where the shots were fired. Officers observed a black male wearing a red jersey, blue jeans, and red shoes running from the above location crossing Blue Hill Avenue running towards Norfolk Street. Officers stopped the male who stated he was coming from a party and heard three to four shots and started running. Officers spoke with several individuals who stated that they observed f our black males walking in the alley between Almont Street and Tennis Road. One of the suspects was wearing dark clothing stopped while the remaining three kept walking. Officers were informed that one of the three suspects pulled out a firearm and fired about three to four shots. The individuals stated that after the shots were fired the suspects ran towards Tennis Road. Ellis Golden, 23, of Mattapan was arrested and charged with Assault by means of a Dangerous Weapon

Person Shot Two In Custody

Yesterday at 3:29am, officers from District B-2 were on patrol in the Dudley Street area and were headed towards Eustis and Dearborn Street for shots fired. As officers turned onto Eustis Street they observed three males on bicycles heading towards them on Eustis out to Harrison Avenue. Officers attempted to conduct a threshold inquiry.

The first suspect tried to evade officers by jumping off his bike taking his shoes and hat off, and running across Harrison Avenue out to Washington Streets. Officers observed the suspect reach into his front waistband and pulled out a black object and tossed it over his head into the Eliot Burying Ground at the corner of Eustis and Washington Streets. After a brief struggles officers were able to handcuff the suspect.

The second suspect also tried to flee from officers by continuing on his bike across Harrison Avenue out to Washington Street where he was apprehended.

After the suspect were in custody officers were informed that a gunshot victim was located in front of 37 Dubois Street. The victim sustained a gunshot wound to the buttocks. The victim was transported to Boston Medical Center and treated for his injury.

Pete Gallop, 18, of Boston and Dominique Grady, 18, of Dorchester were both arrested and charged with Assault with Intent to Murder, Assault and Battery by means of a Dangerous Weapon, Resisting Arrest, Unlawful Possession of Firearm, Firearm Discharged Within 500ft of a Dwelling and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition. Officers did recover a firearm and ballistics from the scene. The third suspect made good his escape.


Three Arrested on Assault Charges

Yesterday morning around 3:17am, officers from District A-7 were flagged down by an individual who pointed in the direction of three males and stated they had a gun. Upon noticing the officers, the three suspects began walking away from the scene up Ford Street towards Breed Street. Officers noticed one of the suspects separate from the others and make a left run onto Whitby Street. Officer attempted to stop the suspect, but he ignored the officers and continued to walk on Breed Street. Officers ordered the suspect to stop and which time the suspect sprinted through a gap in the fence next to Ford Street. Officers chased the suspect through parking lots, fences and yards until the suspect was stuck behind a residence on Leyden Street where he was apprehended.

Another officer responding to this incident observed a male running up Breed Street towards Leyden Street. The officer stopped the suspect and made an inquiry. The suspect stated that he was in a fight around the corner and the police were chasing him. The third suspect was apprehended on Bennington Street.

The victims stated to officers that while warming up their vehicles they were approached by three suspects. The victim stated an argument ensued and shortly after a fight. One of the suspects pulled out a gun from his waistband. The victim stated he knocked the gun to the ground and the second suspect picked it up and pointed the gun at them. Upon hearing the commotion other people responded and the suspect fled.

Jose Camacho, 18, of Revere was arrested and charged with Assault and Battery and Disorderly Person. Steven Golden, 21, of Hyde Park was arrested and charged with Assault by means of a Dangerous Weapon, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Disorderly Conduct and Trespassing, James Warner, 20, of East Boston was arrested and charged with Assault by means of a Dangerous Weapon, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition and Disorderly Conduct. Officers did recover a firearm.

Person Stabbed on Lamartine Ext.

Early this morning around 12:02am, officers from District E-13 responded to a radio call for a male stabbed at 10 Lamartine Ext. On arrival, officers observed the victim lying on his back suffering from multiple stab wounds. Several males were standing around the victim but stated they did not see any but stopped to assist the victim. An unknown individual stated he heard what sounded like two mean fighting but as he got closer the noise stopped. At that time he observed the victim lying on his back with stab wounds. The victim was transported to Brigham and Women’s Hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Drugs Found Stashed in Hide

On Friday, July 20, 2007 at 9:27pm, members from the Drug Control Unit from District B-2 conducted a drug investigation at Humboldt Avenue and Seaver Street. Officers observed the suspect and an unknown individual in an exchange in which the unknown individual male began counting money while standing at the passenger side of the vehicle. After the transaction the suspect entered his vehicle and drove out of the parking lot and proceeded onto Seaver Street. Officers with their collective training and experience combine with the brief encounter and actions of the suspect officers believed they observed a drug transaction.

Officers conducted a traffic stop and Blue Hill Avenue and Seaver Street. Ramon Sosa, 33, of Roslindale and Amarillis Serrano, 27, of East Boston were arrested and charged with Trafficking Class B within 1000ft of a School Zone and Trafficking Class B. Officers did recover over 200grams of cocaine and U.S. Currency from a hide in the vehicle.

Armed Robbery of Convenience Store

Yesterday morning around 12:00am, officers from District D-4 responded to a radio call for an armed robbery at the Lil Peach located at 252 West Newton Street. On arrival, officers spoke with victim who stated that at the time of incident he was working the register in the front of the store when two black males entered the store with their faces covered. Officers were informed that one of the suspects’s jumped over the counter while the second suspect stayed in front of the register and pointed the firearm in the direction of the victim. The suspect ordered the victim to open the register. The suspect removed cash from the register. The suspect walked around the counter and both suspect fled the store heading towards Massachusetts Avenue.

Armed Robbery of Business

Yesterday at 4:08pm, officer from District E-18 responded to a radio call for an armed robbery at the Domino’s Pizza at 695 Truman Parkway. Officers immediately canvassed the area for a white male wearing a khaki hat, light blue shirt, and dark blue pants with a white strip. Officers spoke to the clerk who stated that the suspect entered the store and ordered a pizza and then stated he was going next door to buy a drink. The clerk further who state that when the suspect returned he pulled out a handgun and demanded money. The suspect reached over the counter and grabbed cash from the register. The suspect fled with undetermined amount of cash.

Confirmed Shooting on Talbot Avenue

Last night at 10:19pm, officers from District C-11 responded to a radio call for a person shot at 380 Talbot Avenue. On arrival, officers located a 21-year-old male suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to Boston Medical Center for treatment for non-life threatening injuries.

Two Arrested in Stolen Vehicle

Last night at 10:5pm, officers assigned to the Bowdoin Street and Geneva Avenue Safe Street Team were advised that a stolen car was observed at Dorchester Avenue and Melville Avenue. Officers observed the vehicle and performed a traffic stop at 225 Bowdoin Street. Wayne Fluker, 42, of Brockton was arrested and charged with Receiving Stolen Motor Vehicle. Arthur Flood, 37, of Dorchester was arrested and charged with Receiving Stolen Motor Vehicle and Operating After Revocation or Suspension.

DAILY INCIDENTS FOR SATURDAY, JULY 21, 2007

SIX LESS GUNS IN SOUTH BOSTON

At about 5:23pm, on Friday, July 20, 2007, members of the Area C Neighborhood Drug Unit (South Boston/Dorchester) executed a warrant at 170 W. 9th Street in South Boston. The warrant was issued relative to an arrest made at that location earlier in the day. At about 9:45am, officers arrested Paul O’Brien, 57, of South Boston and charged him with the Distribution of Class B Drugs (Oxycontin). After searching the location, officers recovered six firearms, as well as, ammunition. As a result of the findings, officers charged O’Brien with the Unlawful Possession of a Firearm & Ammunition.

STOLEN CAR RECOVERED IN DORCHESTER

At about 1:25am, on Saturday, July 21, 2007, officers from Area C-11 (Dorchester) observed a motor vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed in the area of Bowden and Quincy Streets. As a result, officers activated their emergency equipment (lights & sirens) in an effort to stop the car. After a brief pursuit, officers observed the occupants of the motor vehicle (the operator and his passenger) exit the car and flee. Officers were able to catch the operator of the car. A check of the motor vehicle’s registration thru the cruiser’s mobile data terminal (the computer inside the police cruiser) revealed that the car in question was stolen. Officers arrested Manuel Monteiro, 20, of Dorchester, and charged him with Larceny of a Motor Vehicle.

NEIGHBORHOOD DRUG UNIT EFFECTS ARREST IN SOUTH BOSTON

At about 9:45am, on Friday, July 20, 2007, members of the Area C Neighborhood Drug Unit were conducting surveillance in the area of W. 9th Street when officers observed what appeared to be the aftermath of a drug transaction. As a result of their observations, officers then followed an individual leaving the scene in a motor vehicle. A short time later, officers observed the individual in the motor vehicle conduct what appeared to be a second drug transaction. When the suspect stopped and parked his vehicle in the area of Joyce Hayes Way, officers confronted the suspect. The suspect was found to be in the possession of Class B Drugs (Oxycontin).

Officers then arrested William Morin, 42, of South Boston, and charged him with Possession with the Intent to Distribute Class B Drugs (Oxycontin) and Possession with the Intent to Distribute within 1,000 Feet of a School Zone. Officers also arrested Paul O’Brien, 57, of South Boston, and charged him with the Distribution of Class B Drugs (Oxycontin).

Bank Robber Attempts Get-A-Way VIA Bus

Yesterday at 11:46am, officers from District D-4 responded to a radio call for a bank robbery in progress at the Citizens Bank at 1355 Washington Street. The suspect passed a note stating he was in possession of gun. No gun was shown or found. A description of the suspect was broadcasted as a white male, thin build, 6’-0”, wearing grey shorts, a button-down shirt, a dark colored hat, and eye glasses. The suspect was observed boarding a MBTA bus at the intersection of West Dedham and Washington Streets. Gregory Noga, 40, of Malden was arrested and charged with Armed Robbery.

Two Arrested After Throwing Bottles and Public Drinking

This morning around 2:13am, officers from District A-1 were patrolling the financial district at the time when the bars and nightclubs are closing. Officers were stopped in traffic on State Street near Congress Street when their attention was drawn to three unknown males. Officers observed two males throwing glass beer bottles at passing motor vehicles. A witness, who works security at 60 State Street, stated that the males were urinating on the wall when he first observed them. They were asked to leave, but refused, becoming agitated and smashing beer bottles on the ground near the building as they walked away. Jacob Altman, 24, of Cambridge and Dean Capparelle, 23, Revere were arrested and charged with Disorderly Conduct and Drinking Alcoholic Beverages in Public.

CAR SEAT SAFETY: Kids Deserve a Safe Ride

WHO: The Boston Police Department, The Executive Office of Public Safety -Governors Highway Safety Bureau, Boston Public Health Commission -Childhood Injury Prevention Program and Greater Boston Safe Kids Coalition.

WHAT: The Boston Police Department will be conducting a car seat safety check on Saturday July 21, 2007. The BPD will have trained technicians on hand that will inspect car seats for installation. They will also offer expert advice and direction on recalled, expired and unsafe car seats.

The overall goal of the program is to promote the safe application of the child car seats and ensure that car seats meet safety standards. Community members are invited to come by for a car seat safety inspection.

DAILY INCIDENTS FOR THURSDAY, JULY 19, 2007

PARKING DISPUTE LANDS ONE IN CUSTODY

At about 6:43pm, on Wednesday, July 18, 2007, officers from Area D-4 (South End) received a radio call for a woman being verbally abused in the area of Trinity Place and Stuart Street. On arrival, officers spoke to the victim who stated that she observed the suspect scratch the side of her car with a shiny metal object. Victim further stated that she and the suspect had been involved in an earlier verbal dispute about the parking spot presently occupied by her car. According to the victim, after she pulled into the spot, the suspect stated, “That’s my spot and if you don’t move I will hit your car.” Officers then broadcast a description of the suspect’s car over the police radio. As a result of the broadcast, officers were able to locate the suspect’s car parked on St. Botolph Street. When officers approached the car, officers observed the suspect sitting in the front seat rolling what appeared to be a marijuana cigarette. Officers arrested Gregory Kiessling, 23, of Westwood, and charged him with Possession of Class D Drug (Marijuana) and the Willful Destruction of Personal Property.

WHIZ KID ARRESTED IN EAST BOSTON

At about 12:33am, on Wednesday, July 18, 2007, officers from Area A-7 (East Boston) responded to a radio call for an individual causing a disturbance outside the Eclipse Tavern in East Boston. On arrival, officers observed an individual standing in the middle of the street, with his pants down, urinating. Additionally, officers observed a small crowd of people yelling at the suspect, “to pull his pants up.” Officers arrested Wander Lopera, 24, of East Boston, and charged him with Open & Gross Lewdness.

UNARMED ROBBER ARRESTED IN CHINATOWN

At about 11:07am, on Wednesday, July 18, 2007, officers from Area A-1 (Downtown) received a radio call for a robbery in progress at Boylston and Tremont Streets. As officers were responding to the scene, a description of the suspect was broadcast over the police radio. As a result, officers were able to locate an individual fitting the description provided by the victim. The suspect was then brought back to the scene of the crime where the victim was able to positively identify the suspect. After the identification was made, officers arrested Hoang Thinh, 35, of Boston, and charged him with Unarmed Robbery.

This is a chance for all to come meet their local law enforcement officers, to broaden their understanding and appreciation for their role in the community, and to have a good time!

Each District’s Open House will vary accordingly, but will generally feature activities such as musical entertainment, food and refreshments, pony rides, face painting, information booths, and guided tours, just to name a few!

Most importantly, this is a great opportunity introduce yourself to your community officers and to ask questions, thus helping the community to better work hand in hand with those in charge of preventing crime and upholding justice.
