Hit and Run Accident at 400 American Legion Highway

At approximately 3:23pm today, June 4, 2007, officers from District 18 (Hyde Park) responded to the area of 400 American Legion Highway for a motor vehicle accident with injuries.
On arrival, officers observed EMS as well as Boston Fire Engines on scene treating the accident victims. Three individuals, a pregnant adult female, a male adult and a four year old female child were all transported to Boston Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
On scene, officers learned that the victim motor vehicle was driving outbound on American Legion Highway when it was struck in the rear by a described, identified suspect motor vehicle. The impact caused the victims’ motor vehicle to cross the median, roll over and end up resting on its side. The suspect motor vehicle then fled the scene.
During further investigation of this incident, officers learned that the car had been stolen and was subsequently reported as such at District B-2. Boston Police Auto Investigators are examining the facts and circumstances surrounding this incident.

Daily Inidents For June 4, 2007

Ticket Scalper Arrested
Yesterday at 6:26pm, while performing a paid detail officers from District D-4 observed the suspect sell two Red Sox tickets for over face value. The tickets had a face value of forty dollars, but the suspect sold the two tickets for a total of two hundred and thirty dollars. Frank Kisich, 34, of Malden was arrested and charged with Ticket Scalping, Peddling Without a License and Occupying a Street for Resale of Tickets.
Four People Arrested for Drinking In Public
Last night at 7:41pm, officers from District 4 were on patrol on West Newton Street when officers observed a group of individuals drinking beer on the front steps of 76 West Newton Street. David Nunez, 19, Boston, DJ Alcantara, 26, of Roxbury, Jose Gonzalez, 28, Lynn and Alejandro Ortiz, 29, Dorchester were all arrested and charged with Drinking Alcoholic Beverages in Public.

Confirmed Shooting at Leroy Street

At 2:43pm, officers from District C-11 (Dorchester) responded to a radio call for a person shot at 26 Leroy Street. On arrival, officers located a black male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to Boston Medical Center. The victim injuries are said to be life threatening.
Detectives are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding this incident.

DAILY INCIDENTS FOR SUNDAY, JUNE 3, 2007

HIT AND RUN IN ROXBURY
At about 7:51pm, on Saturday, June 2, 2007, officers from District B-2 (Roxbury) responded to a radio call for a person on a bicycle struck by a motor vehicle at the intersection of Judson Street and Julian Street. On arrival, officers observed a black male lying on the ground. The victim was immediately transported to the Boston Medical Center where he is listed in critical condition. Witnesses say they observed a black SUV leaving the scene after striking the victim. Officers located the suspect vehicle a short time later and towed the vehicle for evidentiary reasons. No arrests have been made in this incident.
FOUR JUVENILES ARRESTED FOR DOING THE WRONG THING
At about 9:26pm, on Saturday, June 2, 2007, officers from District D-4 (South End) responded to a radio call for a robbery in progress at the intersection of Boylston Street and Park Drive. According to the victim, he was attacked by a large group of kids (approximately 12-15 kids). Victim told officers that the kids threw him to the ground and demanded his wallet. En route to the call, officers observed a small group of kids fleeing the area. Officers stopped those individuals for questioning. While questioning the suspects, the victim was brought to the scene where he was able to positively identify the individuals being detained by the officers. Officers then arrested a 15 year-old male from Roslindale, a 15 year-old male from Roxbury, a 14 year-old male from Dorchester and a 16 year-old male from Roxbury and charged all involved with Assault to Rob Unarmed.
ONE LESS GUN IN ROXBURY
At about 11:00pm, on Saturday, June 2, officers from the Youth Violence Strike Force observed a large group of kids drinking in public in front of 62 Holworthy Street. When officers approached the group, a number of individuals walked into the rear of the above address. As officers followed, one of the officers observed an individual walk behind an unknown female and attempt to pass her what appeared to be a firearm. However, when the individual attempted to do so, the unknown female quickly moved away from him. Officers then arrested David Borden, 17, of Dorchester and charged him with the Unlawful Possession of a Firearm & Ammunition.

DEATH INVESTIGATION AT 90 LORNA ROAD

At about 12:30am, on Sunday, June 3, 2007, officers from District B-3 (Mattapan) responded to a radio call for a body found in the woods near 90 Lorna Road in Mattapan. On arrival, officers located the body of an unidentified black male. The victim was pronounced on the scene. No cause of death has been established, however, the possibility of this incident being a homicide has not been ruled out.

DAILY INCIDENTS FOR SATURDAY, JUNE 2, 2007

ARMED ROBBER ARRESTED DOWNTOWN
At about 10:57pm, on Friday, June 1, 2007, officers from District A-1 (Downtown) were approached by a female who stated that she had just been robbed while sitting on a park bench near the Boston Common. Victim told officers that she was sitting on the bench when an individual (described as a black male wearing a blue-striped shirt) sat down next her, threatened her with a glass instrument and then stole her purse. At this point, the victim was placed in a police cruiser and driven around the immediate area with hopes of locating the suspect. Officers soon located an individual fitting the description provided by the victim. Officers arrested David Robinson, 34, of Roxbury, and charged him with Armed Robbery.
ASSAULT & BATTERY IN JAMAICA PLAIN LANDS TWO IN CUSTODY
At about 2:22am, on Saturday, June 2, 2007, officers from District E-13 (Jamaica Plain) responded to a call for an assault & battery in progress at the intersection of Centre Street and Green Street. On arrival, officers spoke to the victims who stated they were attacked by two Hispanic males. According to the victims, one of the suspects attacked them with what appeared to be a tire iron. According to the victims, they were walking along Centre Street when the suspects drove by yelling and screaming. When the victims yelled back, the suspect vehicle came to a stop and the attack ensued. Victims and witnesses were able to provide descriptions of the suspects and the suspect’s motor vehicle. Officers soon located a vehicle and suspects matching the description provided by the victims. Officers then arrested Jimmy Colon, 21, of Jamaica Plain, and John Domingos Barbosa, 22, of Boston, and charged both with Assault & Battery By Means of a Dangerous Weapon.

Boston Police Relief Association Memorial Service
WHO: Mayor Thomas M. Menino; Boston Police Superintendent Robert P. Dunford; President of the Boston Police Relief Association (BPRA) John R. Kelly; religious leaders from the city of Boston.
WHAT: This Memorial service honors deceased members of the Boston Police Department. The event includes a march to the BPRA Memorial and a concelebrated mass by the Reverend John J. Connolly and Reverend Sean Connor.
The Memorial service will include an invocation by Grand Rabbi Y.A. Korff, a welcome by BPRA President John R. Kelly and remarks by Mayor Menino. Superintendent Dunford will carry out the Reading of the Roll. The Boston Police Honor Guard will play taps. Reverend Gregory Groover will read a benediction. The Service will conclude with a selection by the Boston Police Gaelic Column and a Pass in Review.
The Boston Police Relief Association was organized on January 13, 1871, and incorporated in 1876. It is a fraternal benefit association.
