DAILY INCIDENTS FOR SATURDAY, JUNE 30, 2007

Suspect Placed Under Arrest for Macing Victim

At approximately 10:23pm last night, Friday, June 29, 2007, officers from District 1 (Downtown) responded to a radio call for individuals fighting at 125 Tremont Street.

On arrival, officers observed the suspect spraying the victim with what appeared to be mace in the front entranceway of the 7-11 convenience store. Officers directed the suspect to stop at which point, he turned and fled from the scene. Officers observed the suspect throw an unknown item down the Park Street station stairs that they later recovered and determined to be pepper spray/mace. Officers were able to pursue and quickly locate and place the suspect under arrest close to the Park Street station after a brief struggle.

Suspect, Christopher F. Callinan, 26, of Malden was arrested and charged with Assault and Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon, Resisting Arrest, and Being a Disorderly Person.

Speeding Motorist Arrested with Firearm

At about 2:30am today, Saturday, June 30, 2007, officers from District 4 (South End) arrested suspect, Trevis J. Catron, 33, of Roslindale, and charged him with Unlawful Possession of Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Larceny of a Motor Vehicle, Operating a Motor Vehicle after Revocation or Suspension of License, and One Way, Wrong Way Violation.

Officers were on scene at a motor vehicle accident when they observed a motor vehicle being operated at a high rate of speed going the wrong direction on Shawmut Avenue. Officers conducted a traffic stop and there observed the driver to be very nervous. Officers requested from the driver his license and registration and the reason for his erratic driving. The operator stated that he had just been in a fight with his friend and was simply driving around the block. The suspect next produced an ID as opposed to the license that was requested of him and stated to officers that his license was suspended. Officers made additional observation of the suspect and noted that he was bleeding from above his right eye and that there were several empty cans of beer in the car. Officers again requested of the operator the car’s the registration and further inquired when he could not tell them who owned the car. Officers then attempted to locate the car’s registration when they observed a firearm in the glove compartment. The suspect was then placed under arrest. Officers subsequently located the owner of the car who reported that he had been assaulted by the suspect and his car taken.

Yield to Pedestrians when You Are Not Licensed

This morning around 10:38am, officers from District 2 (Roxbury) arrested Matthew R. Allen, 21, of Roxbury and charged him Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle, and Outstanding warrant out of Roxbury District Court for Assault and Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon.

The suspect came to officers’ attention when he failed to yield to several pedestrians who were attempting to cross Warren Street. A traffic stop was conducted during which the suspect claimed not to have his license on his person. Check of the suspect’s information revealed him to be unlicensed and to have an outstanding warrant.

PUBLIC SAFETY NOTIFICATION: Armed Robbery Pattern

Overview: Between April 17th and June 26th, sixteen commercial robbery incidents have taken place and that could potentially be related. Investigators are looking into the possibility of one or maybe two black male suspects, who range in age from 30-40. In addition, various suspect heights have been reported ranging from 5’5” to 6’0”.

The suspects similarly described in appearance and motives have robbed eight businesses all at knifepoint. The suspect(s) has been known to order the clerks to the floor.

Seven incidents took place on District D-4 (Back Bay/South End), eight on District A-1 (Downtown), and one on District B-2 (Roxbury). All of the incidents have taken place between 2:30 AM and 7:10 PM.

Area detectives are actively investigating these incidents. Districts will also increase patrols. Community members are urged to contact 911 to report any suspicious activity. The similarities in the incidents include: Made the clerk get down on floor; Robbed at Knifepoint; Wearing baseball cap (two incidents); Stole money from registers; Displayed a firearm (four incident) and displayed a shotgun (four incidents).

Incident Details:

D4 – On 04/17/2007 at 7:10 PM, The suspect walked into Lindt Chocolate Shop at 704 Boylston St. and pulled out a knife and told the employee to open the registers, and told witnesses to sit on the floor. The suspect is described as a black male, 5’6” to 5’8” with a thin build, 30-35 years of age.

A1 – On 04/24/2007 at 6:30 PM, The suspect walked into the Ben & Jerry’s at 20 Park Plaza and pulled out a knife and told the employee to open the register, he took all the cash from the register. The suspect is described as a black male, 5’9” with a thin build, 40 years of age.

D4 – On 04/29/2007 at 2:15 PM, The suspect walked into Emack and Boulios at 201 Brookline Ave. and pulled out a knife and told the employee to sit on the floor, and took money from the register. The suspect is described as a black male, 5’5” with a slim build, around 30 years of age.

D4 – On 05/04/2007 at 1:25 PM, The suspect walked into Bon Bon at 197 Mass Ave. and pulled out a knife and told the employee to get on the floor, he took all the cash from the register and took the cell phone from the employee. The suspect then fled the store. The suspect is described as a black male, 5’7” with a thin build. The knife is described as a hunting style knife.

A1 – On 05/06/2007 at 5:45 PM, The suspect walked into the gift shop at the New England Medical Center and pulled out a knife and told the employees to get on the floor, he took all the cash from the register. He then forced the employees into the back room, told them to lie on the floor, took cash from another register, and took the cell phones from the employees. The suspect then fled the store. The suspect is described as a black male, with a thin build.

D4 – On 5/9/07 at 1:14 PM, Truly Jorg’s Pattiserie located at 514 Commonwealth Ave. was robbed. A black male (age 30, 5’07”, medium build; wearing a baseball cap and sunglasses) demanded money at gunpoint and assaulted the female clerk. The suspect fled toward the Fenway Park area.

A1 – On 05/12/2007 at 11:38 AM, the suspect went into Papyrus at 28 Tremont St, and he waited for the other customers to leave the store. Once the customers left, he pulled out a knife and told the victims to open the register. He made them hand him the cash from the register. The suspect then forced the employees to open the safe, they did so and he then forced them to go into the bathroom. The suspect then took money from the safe and fled. The suspect is described as a black male, about 40 years of age, bald, about 5’8” with a medium build.

A1 – On 5/17/07 at 10:25 AM, a black male suspect (6’00”, medium build, wearing a gray denim jacket, and a baseball cap) robbed the Vitamin Shoppe, located at 268 Washington St. The suspect ordered the clerk to the floor, stole cash from the registers, and ordered the clerk to stay on the floor for five minutes as he fled toward Congress St. The suspect did not display a weapon; however, he held his hand in his pocket as though he had a weapon.

B2 – On 05/29/2007 at 6:07 PM, the Patriot News at 350 Longwood Ave was robbed. The suspect entered the store and asked to purchase cigarettes. Once the clerk was distracted he pulled out a silver handgun and told the clerk to sit on the floor. He then took cash from the register and fled.

D4 – On 06/06/2007 at 4:55 PM, the suspect walked into All Things Chocolate at 31 St. James Ave. The suspect approached the clerk and told her that this is a robbery, and made her stand away from the register. He then took the cash from the register hand, told the clerk to sit in the office and then fled. The suspect is described as a black male, 40 years of age, 5’6”, 150 lbs, with a slim build. The suspect never showed a weapon but held his side as if he had one.

D4 – On 06/16/2007 at 2:30 AM, There was a robbery at the Midtown Hotel on 220 Huntington Ave. The suspect walked into the lobby and pulled out a gun and forced the clerks into a back room. He then took cash from the cash register drawers. The suspect was a black male, and had a bandana on his face.

A1 – On 06/20/2007 at 6:45 PM, the suspect walked into the Sarni’s Cleaners at 175 Cambridge St and pulled out a sawed-off shotgun from his bag. He then ordered the employees to open the register and then lie on the floor. He then stole the cash and fled. The suspect is described as a black male, about 35 years of age, 5’6” with a thin build.

A1 – On 06/21/2007 at 6:13 PM, the store Papyrus at 107 Summer St. was robbed. The suspect came in and looked around at items, and then approached both clerks as they were behind the counter. He displayed a sawed off shotgun that was inside of a courier bag. He then demanded that they open the register and then turn around and face the wall. He took the cash from the register and then fled the store.

A1 – On 06/24/2007 at 12:50 PM, Yankee Candle store at Faneuil Hall was robbed. The suspect displayed what appeared to be a shotgun inside of a messenger bag. He told the clerks to open the register and then told them to lie down on the floor. He then stole cash and fled the scene.

D4 – On 06/24/2007 at 4:15 PM, the Tall Girl clothing store at 211 Berkeley St. was robbed. The suspect walked in wearing a grey bandana as a mask. He displayed what appeared to be a shotgun inside of a messenger bag. He told the clerks to open the register and then told them to lie down on the floor. He then stole cash and fled the scene.

A1 – On 06/26/2007 at 6:00 PM, the Copley Fair Gift Shop at 176 Federal St. was robbed. The suspect entered the store and showed a firearm. He ordered the employees to open the registers, and then sit on the floor of the backroom. He took the cash from the registers and fled. The suspect is described as a black male, 5’8”, slim build.

Investigators believe that there may be two suspects acting either independently or together in the robberies.

Daily Incidents For June 28, 2007

Two Arrested on Gun Charges

Last night around 11:05pm, members of the Boston Regional Intelligence Unit responded to a radio call to assist units at 60 Highland Street for a person shot. While in route officers observed a vehicle backing up the wrong way down Roxbury Street. At this time with knowledge of a shooting close by, officers believed that this vehicle could have been involved in this shooting. One of the suspects informed the officers that the reason they were leaving at a high rate of speed backwards was that someone threw a rock at there vehicle.

Victor Hutchins, 21, of Dorchester and Michael Reed, 19, of Mattapan were arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Possession of a Firearm with Altered Serial Numbers and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition. Officers did recover a firearm from the suspects.

Person Stabbed in Dorchester

This morning at 12:14am, officers from District C-11 responded to a radio call to investigate a person with a knife at 18 Howe Street. On arrival, officers spoke with the victim who stated three black males chased him up Howe Street and proceeded to repeatedly stab him. The victim was transported to Boston Medical Center and treated for his injuries. The victim is in stable condition.

Suspects Arrested After Breaking Into School

This morning at 2:07am, officers from District D-14 responded to a radio call for an alarm at the Taft Middle School at 20 Warren Avenue. On arrival, officers checked the doors at the front of the school on the Warren Street side, which was secured.

Officers then drove around the school to the Cambridge Street side and noticed two black males walking from the side entrance of the building. Officers conducted a threshold inquiry and asked them what they were doing at the school. One of the suspects stated, “We were inside playing basketball.” Offices observed both suspects were extremely sweaty but was not wearing typical athletic type clothing. Both suspects denied having any identification on them.

Officers searched the area where the suspects were seen walking from and found one black backpack, one large black duffle bag, one black computer equipment bag and one brown cardboard box. Officers observed several new laptop computers still inside their protective plastic wrap.

Trevor Rowe, 20 of Watertown and Kevon Grant, 20, of Roxbury were both arrested and charged with Breaking and Entering a Building; Intent to Commit a Felony and Possession of Burglarious Tools.

DAILY INCIDENTS FOR WEDNESDAY, JUNE 27, 2007

IF YOU’RE GONNA TAKE THE RIDE .. YOU GOTTA PAY THE FARE

At about 12:40am, on Wednesday, June 27, 2007, officers performing a paid detail on Area A-1 (Downtown) were approached by a cab driver who told officers that the customer in his cab was refusing to pay the fare. Officers then spoke to the customer/suspect who stated that she didn’t have enough money to pay the fare, but that her boyfriend was coming to bring her money. Suspect then walked up to an unknown individual and stated, “Honey, let me have the money for the taxi.” Officers then asked the individual if he knew the suspect. To which the individual stated that he did not. At this point, officers informed the suspect that she needed to pay the taxi fare. The suspect then began screaming obscenities at the police officers. As the suspect continued to yell and scream, a crowd began to gather. Officers then arrested Jewell Allsop, 46, of Roslindale, and charged her with Disorderly Conduct.

DRUNK DRIVER ARRESTED IN THE BACK BAY

At about 2:40am, on Wednesday, June 27, 2007, officers from Area D-4 (South End), with assistance from the State Police, responded to a radio call for an accident at 520 Beacon Street. On arrival, officers observed several motor vehicles with body damage. The individual responsible for causing the accident attempted to flee the scene, but was apprehended by responding officers. While questioning the suspect, officers detected a strong odor of alcohol. Officers then arrested Panagiotis Thomopoulos, 29, of Watertown, and charged him with Operating Under the Influence (Alcohol) and Leaving the Scene of an Accident (Property Damage).

WHAT: Part game show, part reality TV, and part spoof, Fetch! with Ruff Ruffman is an action-packed children’s program featuring real kids, real challenges, real science, and an unreal animated dog-named Ruff Ruffman. Each episode follows one or more of the kids as they embark on mystery assignments, concocted by host Ruff. Targeting 6- to 10-year-olds, the series is spontaneous, unscripted, and full of surprises. Fetch! is produced by WGBH.

Daily Incidents For June 26, 2007

Person Stabbed in Dorchester

This morning around 12:31am, officers from District C-11 were on patrol in the Talbot Avenue/Dorchester Avenue area. A concerned citizen who stated that a man had been stabbed in front of Store 24 flagged officers down. Officers located a male suffering from multiple stab wound. The victim was transported to Boston Medical Center and treated for a non-life threatening injury. The victim stated that he got into an argument with two males in the parking lot of Store 24 and that one of the male stabbed him.

Search Warrant executed at 4 Oak Street

This morning at 12:38am, members of the Drug Control Units from District E-13 and District C-6 executed a search warrant at 4 Oak Street. Juan Fuentes, 28, of Hyde Park was arrested and charged with Distribution of Class B and Conspiracy to Violate Drug Laws. Officers recovered an electronic grinder, scale, box of Baggies, one plastic bag of white powder, 34 plastic bags of cocaine, 5 large plastic bags of cocaine.

Caught in the Act

This morning at 12:39am, officers from District B-2 responded to a radio call for a crime in progress at 20 Eastman Street. On arrival, officers spoke with the victim who stated that he heard a window break, and when he looked outside he observed a black male with a puffy pony tail, wearing a white t-shirt and dark colored shorts breaking into his vehicle. At that time the suspect fled on a bicycle up Belden Street towards Dudley Street. A few minutes’ later officers observed a black male fitting that description riding down Humphreys Street. As officers approached the suspect he quickly fled from police. The suspect discarded the bike and fled through numerous back yards jumping over fences. The suspect was apprehended in the rear of 24 Belden Street. Jason Maestre, 22, of Dorchester was arrested and charged with Breaking and Entering a Motor Vehicle, Destruction or injury of Personal Property and Trespassing.

Shooting Incident on Seaver Street Claims Life of 8-Year-Old Child

Last evening at 11:11pm, officers from District B-2 in Roxbury responded to a radio call for a person shot at 266 Seaver St. On arrival, officers located 8-year-old Laquarrie Jefferson suffering from a single gunshot wound to the abdomen.

Laquarrie was rushed to Boston Medical Center where he soon succumbed to his injury.

In response, two squads from the Boston Police homicide unit are investigating this case and have been working through the night. In addition, the Boston Police Regional Intelligence Unit responded in and is supporting the homicide detectives in this investigation.

Police Commissioner Ed Davis said, “I am stunned and saddened by the news of Laquarrie’s death. His young life has been cut tragically short by senseless gun violence.”

The initial report at the scene suggested the possibility of armed individuals forcibly entering the home. According to preliminary reports, Laquarrie was shot during that confrontation. At this time, Boston Police are conducting investigations and examining the evidence to see where that information leads.

The department has received several tips concerning this incident, which detectives are following up on.

DAILY INCIDENTS FOR MONDAY, JUNE 25, 2007

MAN WITH A KNIFE ARRESTED IN DORCHESTER

At about 11:25pm, on Sunday, June 24, 2007, officers from Area C-11 (Dorchester) responded to a radio call for a person with a knife at 81 Sydney Street. On arrival, officers spoke to the victim who stated that a black male, wearing a bandana, chased him with a knife. The victim further stated that the suspect, along with two others, rode off on bicycles. After hearing a description of the suspects broadcast over Channel 6 of the police radio, officers were able to locate two individuals fitting the description provided by the victim. The victim was then brought to the scene where the suspects were being detained and positively identified the suspect who chased him with the knife. Officers arrested a 14 year-old Hispanic male from Dorchester and charged him with Assault By Means of a Dangerous Weapon (knife).

HIT & RUN SUSPECT ARRESTED IN THE SOUTH END

At about 6:58pm, on Sunday, June 24, 2007, detail officers on Area D-4 (South End) observed a motor vehicle strike a bicyclist and, then, continue driving. As a result, officers immediately began yelling at the motorist to stop. When the motorist refused to do so, officers broadcast a description of the motor vehicle over Channel 5 of the police radio. Responding units soon located the motor vehicle and conducted a motor vehicle stop. After the vehicle was stopped, the motorist was brought back to the scene of the original incident. At that time, officers and the victim were able to positively identify the suspect. Officers arrested Yeva Kulidzhanova, 21, of Jamaica Plain, and charged her with Leaving the Scene after causing Personal Injury.

The Boston Police Athletic League (PAL) funded this initiative as a way of honoring the students for their academic achievement, leadership and perfect attendance throughout the last school year. Youth Service Officers’ from each of the 11 police districts have worked closely with each of these dedicated pupils since the beginning of the school year.

DAILY INCIDENTS FOR SUNDAY, JUNE 24, 2007

STABBING SUSPECT ARRESTED IN THE COMMONS

At about 12:56am, on Sunday, June 24, 2007, officers from Area A-1 (Downtown) responded to a radio call for a person stabbed near 150 Tremont Street. On arrival, officers located an individual suffering from multiple stab wounds. The victim was transported to MGH with non life-threatening injuries. Before being transported to the hospital, the victim was able to provide a description of the individual who stabbed him. Officers located an individual fitting the description provided by the victim inside the Boston Commons. While talking to the suspect, officers noted that the suspect had a cut on his hand. When officers questioned him about the injury, the suspect admitted to having stabbed someone. Officers then arrested James Sablone, 26, of Winthrop, and charged him with Assault & Battery By Means of a Dangerous Weapon (knife) and Armed Robbery.

SHOOTING SUSPECT TAKEN INTO CUSTODY

At about 8:40pm, on Saturday, June 23, 2007, officers from Area B-2 (Roxbury) were approached by an individual who stated that he had been the victim of a shooting back on February 22, 2007. (On that date, officers did respond to a call for a person shot at 112 Regent Street in Roxbury.) The victim from that previous incident further stated that he had just observed the individual responsible for shooting him. After getting a description of the suspect, officers were able to locate the suspect. After the victim positively identified the suspect, officers arrested Corey Houston, 23, of Mattapan, and charged him with Assault with Intent to Murder.

ARMED ROBBER ARRESTED IN ROXBURY

At about 9:43pm, on Saturday, June 23, 2007, officers from Area B-2 (Roxbury) received a radio call for an armed robbery in progress in the area of Marcella Street in Roxbury. On arrival, officers spoke to the victim who stated that, while walking down the street, he was approached by two black males. According to the victim, both suspects were armed (one with a gun, the other with a knife) and both demanded his money. Victim provided the following descriptions: suspect #1 (with the knife) was a 19-23 year-old, 5’9” dark skinned black male, slim build wearing all black; suspect #2 (with the gun) was a was slightly taller black male also wearing all black. Officers located an individual fitting the description of suspect #1. When asked if he was armed, suspect told officers that he was carrying a knife. That knife was later logged in as evidence. The victim was then brought to the location where the suspect was being detained. At that point, the victim was able to positively identify the suspect. Officers arrested Antonio Hudson, 24, of Malden, and charged him with Armed Robbery.

CAT BURNING SUSPECT IN CUSTODY

At about 7:50am, on Wednesday, June 13, 2007, officers from Area A-7 (East Boston) responded to a radio call for a burning dead cat at 204 Princeton Street. On arrival, officers observed the Boston Fire Department already on scene. Officers also observed burn marks and a broken window on the first floor of the above address. Witnesses say that they observed a white male, in his early 20’s, approach the house and throw what appeared to be a burning object at the residence. Witnesses said the suspect was last seen fleeing the area.

On Friday, June 22, officers from Area A-7 (East Boston) arrested Luigi Epifania, 23, of East Boston, on an outstanding warrant unrelated to the above incident. Nevertheless, detectives from Area A-7 had received information linking Epifania to the above cat-burning incident. As a result, Epifania was questioned about his involvement and he confessed to the crime. Officers charged Epifania with the Malicious Killing of a Domestic Animal and Arson.

Loud Music Call Ends in a Firearm Arrest

Last night at 11:02pm, officers from District B-3 (Mattapan) responded to radio call for a loud music at 45 Peacevale Road. On arrival, officers observed several males drinking from cups and beer bottles. Officers further observed one individual who was standing on the sidewalk holding an open bottle of beer immediately grab his waist and turn away from the rest of the group and walk towards the house. Officers observed the suspect bend down and place his beer bottle on the ground with his left hand never moving his right hand form his waist. Officers attempted to conduct a threshold inquiry. At that time the suspect turned and proceeded to discard what appeared to be a silver and black firearm. Jabari Horsley, 27, of Dorchester was arrested and charges with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Possession of a loaded Firearm and Drinking Alcohol Beverages in Public. Officers did recover a firearm from the suspect.

“Just Chillin”

This morning around 12:38am, officers from District E-18 (Hyde Park) were on patrol on Hebron Street and observed a red motor vehicle that was occupied by four black males. As officers drove by they could smell a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle, which was parked on Hebron Street. Officers questioned the suspect as to what they were doing hanging out inside the vehicle. The suspect replied, “We are just chillin”. When asked about the strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the car, the suspect stated that he did not know of any marijuana. A 15-year-old juvenile male from Mattapan was arrested and charged with Possession of Class B. Officers did recover drugs from the suspect.

Person Stabbed in Allston

At 2:07am this morning, officers from District D-14 (Brighton/Allston) responded to St Elizabeth Hospital on a report of a walk in stab victim. On arrival, officers spoke with the victim who stated while outside Tonic Bar at 1316 Commonwealth Avenue he was stabbed. The victim stated that he attempted to break up a fight when an unknown black male dressed in all black pulled out a knife and attempted to stab the other combatants involved in the argument. The victim stated at that time he was stabbed in the leg. Officers went back to the scene and spoke with the doorman who stated that a black male fitting that description was escorted out of the bar for arguing with his friends. The victim was treated for a non-life threatening injury.

Murder Suspect Apprehended

At about 9:30pm on Friday, June 22, 2007, members of the Boston Police Fugitive & Apprehension Unit and the Chicopee Police Department who were working under the direction of the Homicide unit successfully affected the arrest of Patrick Mayhew, 20, of Dorchester. Mayhew was captured in Chicopee, Massachusetts. Mayhew will be arraigned on Monday June 25, 2007 at Dorchester District Court.

At about 1:40 pm, on Thursday, June 21, 2007, officers from Area C-11 (Dorchester) responded to a radio call for a man shot at 27 Nottingham Street in Dorchester. On arrival, officers observed Joseph Smith, 39, of Dorchester suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to the Boston Medical Center where he was later pronounced.

Incident at 18 Washington Street in Brighton

At approximately 3:59pm today, Friday, June 22, 2007, officers from District 14 (Brighton/Allston) responded to 18 Tremont Street for a report of a kidnapping.

On arrival officers located two separate witnesses, both of whom reported that they observed three individuals wearing sweaters, camouflaged clothing and ski masks drag a white male off the sidewalk and push him into van. The witnesses alternatively described the suspects’ vehicle as a dark colored van (possibly blue or gray) or SUV and gave a partial registration # of 3528 or a variation thereof belonging to a Virginia license plate.

One of the two witnesses attempted to follow the car as it sped off into traffic but lost sight of the suspect motor vehicle as traffic became more congested.

At this time, based on the reports given by witnesses it is unclear as to whether this incident is a prank or legitimate incident, however, as with any incident reported to the Boston Police Department, we are actively investigating this incident and ask anyone with information to contact District 14 detectives at (617) 343-4256, or (617) 343-4260. “Fight Crime 100% anonymously. WANTED: Boston Police Seeking Murder Suspect

At about 1:40 pm, on Thursday, June 21, 2007, officers from Area C-11 (Dorchester) responded to a radio call for a man shot at 27 Nottingham Street in Dorchester. On arrival, officers observed Joseph Smith, 39, of Dorchester suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to the Boston Medical Center where he was later pronounced.

After a thorough investigation of the incident, Homicide detectives applied for and were granted an arrest warrant for Patrick Mayhew, 20, of Dorchester.

Investigators are making every effort to locate and apprehend this suspect. A description is listed below. Due to eyewitness identification issues, a photo of the murder suspect cannot be made available.

Daily Incidents For June 22, 2007

Business Robbed at Gunpoint

Yesterday at 6:15pm, officers from District A-1 (Downtown) responded to a radio call for an armed robbery at 107 Summer Street. On arrival, officers spoke with the victim who stated that she was working on the lower level when the suspect came downstairs and asked for a greeting card. The victim stated that after she told him that what he was looking for was upstairs, the suspect began looking around the store and then proceeded upstairs. The victim stated about five minutes later she went upstairs and observed the suspect looking at greeting cards. The suspect stated to the victim this is a robbery and proceeded behind the counter. The suspect displayed a barrel of a shotgun, which was protruding from a bag. The suspect then proceeded to empty both cash registers. The suspect fled in an unknown direction with an undetermined amount of cash.

Two Arrested for Drug Possession

Last night at 7:30pm, members of the Drug Control Unit from District A-1 (Downtown) were monitoring drug activity in the Boston Common. Officers have made arrest for violation of the drug laws. Officers observed a black male take an item from his mouth and hand the item to another male. Based on officers training and experience they believed they observed a drug transaction. Officers approached the male for a threshold inquiry and observed an item in the suspect’s mouth. Anthony Raye, 19, of Dorchester was arrested and charged with Distribution of Class B and Distribution of Class B within 1000ft of a School Zone. Also arrested was Tha Mean, 37, of Boston and was charged with Possession of Class B.

Animal Incident in Hyde Park

Today at 11:34am, officers from District E-18 (Hyde Park) responded to a radio call for an unknown problem at 111 Williams Avenue. On arrival officers observed the victim with three small puncture wounds to the face. According to witnesses the child was playing ball with the dog when the victim took the ball out of the dogs mouth and was bitten by the terrier. The victim was transported to Children Hospital and treated for his injuries. Animal control is investigating this incident.

DAILY INCIDENTS FOR THURSDAY, JUNE 21, 2007

A-HOY THERE!!!

At about 2:45am, on Wednesday, June 20, 2007, officers from Area A-1 (Downtown) received a radio call for a person breaking into a boat on Rowes Wharf. On arrival, officers spoke to witnesses who stated that they saw a man break into one of the boats. Officers boarded and searched the boat in question. Once aboard, officers located a white male sleeping under a table. Further investigation showed the individual to be intoxicated. Officers then arrested John Allen, 26, of Boston, and charged him with Trespassing.

STOLEN MOTOR VEHICLE RECOVERED IN DORCHESTER

At about 1:53pm, on Wednesday, June 20, 2007, officers from Area C-11 (Dorchester) observed a gray motor vehicle, known to be stolen, at the corner of Washington Street and Talbot Avenue. The vehicle had been reported stolen earlier in the day. As a result, officers began to follow the vehicle. While following the car, officers observed the vehicle pull over and park on Welles Avenue. Officers then observed two black males exit the vehicle and walk in the direction of Talbot Avenue. Officers stopped the suspects and began questioning them about the stolen car. One of the suspects stated that a friend had loaned him the car.

Both suspects, James Stevenson, 28, of Dorchester, and Avery Williams, 21, of Hyde Park, were arrested and charged with Receiving a Stolen Motor Vehicle.

Breaking and Entering Suspect Arrested

Yesterday morning at 10:32am, officers from District A-7 responded to a radio call for a breaking and entering in progress at 447 Frankfort Street. On arrival, officers spoke with victim who stated that she was sleeping in her bedroom when she heard a cracking sound as if someone was breaking into the front door. The victim stated she got out of bed and ran to the front door to see what was going on. The victim observed a white male wearing a grey t-shirt, blue jeans white sneakers with a screwdriver in hand outside her front door. The suspect fled on foot towards the cemetery when he heard the victim at the door. Officers observed the suspect walking back to the scene of the crime. Robert Forsyth, 52, of Jamaica Plain was arrested and charged with Attempted Breaking and Entering, Possession of Burglarious Tools and Possession of Class D.

Person Shot in Dorchester

Last night around 9:46pm, officers from District B-3 responded to a radio call for a person shot at 511 Norfolk Street. On arrival, officers observed the victim being attended to by Boston EMS. The victim stated he heard one shot and then felt a sharp pain to his right arm. The victim was transported to Boston Medical Center and treated for a non-life threatening injury.

Confirmed Shooting at Tremont and Stuart Streets

This morning around 5:06am, officers from District A-1 responded to a radio call for a person shot at Tremont and Stuart Streets. On arrival, officers located a male victim in his early twenties suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to Mass General Hospital and is in critical condition.

Suspect Caught in the Act

This morning at 5:32am, officers from District A-7 responded to a radio call for a male trying to get into the St Lazarus Church at Ashley and Breed Streets. On arrival, officers observed the grate that was covering a basement window had been removed and that the window was broken. At that time offices observed the suspect exit out of the side door and upon seeing the officers the suspect ran back inside and shut the door. Officers found the door locked and immediately set up a perimeter and were waiting for a canine unit to arrive. A 16-year-old male juvenile of East Boston was arrested and charged with Breaking and entering a Building with Intent to Commit a Felony and Destruction or Injury of Personal Property.

South Boston Stabbing Arrest

At about 9:00 o’clock this evening, members of the Boston Police Homicide Unit arrested Bernard Piscopo, age 38, of Dorchester for the murder of Adam Rich on June 17, 2007 at the Six House Bar in South Boston. Homicide detectives applied for a murder warrant for Piscopo earlier this afternoon at South Boston District Court. Later this afternoon, counsel for Piscopo contacted the District Attorney’s Office and the Boston Homicide Unit and informed them that he was representing Piscopo and arranged for his surrender at Boston Police Headquarters.
After appearing at headquarters, Piscopo was transported to Area C-6 in South Boston where he was booked and held for arraignment in South Boston District Court tomorrow morning.
The warrant and arrest is the result of an intensive 3-day investigation and could not have succeeded without assistance from the community in providing information about the incident and the person responsible. This investigation is still active. Homicide detectives are seeking additional witnesses and information. DAILY INCIDENTS FOR TUESDAY, JUNE 19, 2007

GUN ARREST MADE IN HYDE PARK

At about 11:08pm, on Monday, June 18, 2007, officers from Area E-18 (Hyde Park) responded to a radio call for threats being made at 95 Providence Street. On arrival, officers spoke to the victim who stated two black males drove by him and threatened to kill him. Officers then observed two individuals fitting the description provided by the victim. As officers approached the suspects, the suspects began to run. While following the suspects, officers observed the suspects clutching their waistlines as if they were carrying weapons. Officers then stopped the suspects and conducted a search of them and the area immediately around them. Officers recovered a firearm in the immediate area (a silver Smith & Wesson with a brown handle). Officers arrested John Louis, 21, of Roslindale, and, Edwin Samedy, 23, of Norwood, and charged both with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm & Ammunition.

WRONG PLACE TO THROW A BOTTLE

At about 2:04am, on Monday, June 18, 2007, officers from Area A-7 (East Boston) observed two beer bottles get tossed out of a moving motor vehicle in the area of Morris Street. Officers then activated their emergency equipment (lights & sirens) and stopped the motor vehicle. While talking to the operator of the motor vehicle, officers detected an odor of alcohol coming from within the motor vehicle. Officers further observed 2 open, partially full bottles of beer on the floor of the motor vehicle by the front passenger’s feet. Officers then arrested Nestor Aran, 20, of Revere, and charged him with Being a Minor in Possession of Alcohol. Officers also arrested Juan Miranda, 21, of Everett, and charged him with Procuring Alcohol for a Minor. Officers also issued the following motor vehicle citations: Seatbelt Violation, Open Container, Littering from a Motor Vehicle.

Homicide Victim from W. Broadway Street Incident Identified

At about 1:44am, on Sunday, June 17, officers from Area C-6 (South Boston) responded to a radio call for a male stabbed at 28 W. Broadway Street. On arrival, officers located a male victim suffering from an apparent stab wound to the chest and stomach. The victim, Adam Rich, 26, of Revere, was transported to Boston Medical Center and was later pronounced.

Boston Police continue to actively investigate the facts and circumstances surrounding this incident.
