Murder Suspect Arrested in Tuscaloosa, Alabama

Today Boston Police Homicide Detectives and Tuscaloosa authorities arrested Robert Lee Jones, 34, of Mattapan on an arrest warrant issued yesterday for the homicide of Michael Etheridge, 40, of Dorchester. The Boston Police investigation led homicide detectives to Alabama where Jones was located and today placed in custody. Jones will soon be returned to Boston where he will face a charge for murder.

On October 5, 2005 at 12:39am, officers responded to 12 Seaver Street in Roxbury for a report of shots fired. On arrival, officers were unable to locate a victim. Later, police were notified that a victim of a shooting had arrived at the Boston Medical Center. Officers then responded to the hospital where they were notified that the victim, Michael Etheridge, had died as result of a gunshot wound. His death was ruled a homicide by the Medical Examiner.

As a result of the investigation that followed, Homicide Detectives applied for and were granted an arrest warrant charging Jones with the murder of Michael Etheridge.
