Police Commissioner Promotes Two Lieutenants to Captain

Announces Changes to Boston Police Leadership

Today Acting Boston Police Commissioner Albert E. Goslin announced the promotions of Lieutenant Detective Mark Hayes and Lieutenant Kelley McCormick to the position of Captain. In addition, a personnel order was issued today transferring district Captains to new commands throughout the city. These transfers are effective on August 28, 2006

Commissioner Goslin stated, “The Boston Police Department is comprised of some of the most talented and respected law enforcement professionals nationwide. During a time of reorganization and revitalization within our department, I am proud to be able to make the following promotions and changes.” Commissioner Goslin added, “I am confident that these highly capable and seasoned individuals will continue to diligently serve the department and the citizens of Boston. This is a tremendous opportunity for each Captain to broaden their leadership experience and bring a new and re-energized perspective to their respective assignments.”

They are as follows:

Captain James Claiborne from District 13 to District 3

Captain William Evans from District 14 to District 4

Captain Robert Flaherty from District 4 to District 6

Captain James Hasson from District 2 to District 5

Captain Mark Hayes newly promoted to District 14

Captain John Kervin from District 5 to Bureau of Field Services Night Command

Captain Kelley McCormick newly promoted to District 13

Captain Timothy Murray from District 3 to Training and Education

Captain Paul Russell from District 6 to District 2
