Today is the anniversary of the line-of-duty death of Boston Police Detective Sherman Griffiths. On this date in 1989, Detective Griffiths was shot and killed while serving a narcotics warrant with other officers from the Drug Control Unit.

On this day we remember the sacrifice that Detective Griffiths made 17 years ago.
